Barghouti undercuts Abbas on postponing elections

Po' ol' Abbas. Can't trust nobody these days.

In a surprise about-face, jailed terrorist Marwan Barghouti warned Abbas against postponing the January 25 elections. Barghouti is running at the head of the ruling Fatah party's list, and said that if Fatah wins the vote, he would work toward forming a "national unity" government that would comprise representatives of various groups, including Hamas.

Sounds like a deal was made to me, between Barghouti (who won't be available to govern if he wins) and Hamas, who will.Jerusalem Post | Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World

Barghouti is serving 5 life terms for his involvement in the murder of Israeli civilians. I guess it's sort of like a Mafia chieftain ruling his turf from a jail cell.

Lovely people. Give `em a state.
