Blix the clueless weighs in again

Ah, yes...Blix the clueless weighs in.

Today, this piece of useless Eurotrash held a press conference as the head of something called The Weapons of Mass Destruction Commission. Among other things, Blix called for a `nuclear free Middle East'and stated that Iran's seeking nuclear weapons needs to be viewed in context of the `threat' Iran faces from the Americans and Israel! Blix essentially equated Iran's situation with Israel's as far as nuclear weapons go. I saw this coming back in February, when the Bush administration yielded to pressure by the Europeans and the Arabs to include language about a `nuclear free Middle East' in order to get the IAEA to vote to refer Iran to the Security Council.

Here's the difference, just for those who might think this is somehow `reasonable'.

First, Israel is surrounded by genocidal enemies who vastly outnumber it, with its back to the sea..and unlike Iran, Israel can be sure that should they be defeated, genocide is a certainty. Its enemies have said as much many times. And proven it by ethnically cleansing virtually every Jew in the Arab world after 1948, not to mention several attempts to finish the job since then. Israel's margin of error is non-existent. Iran is NOT surrounded by enemies promising genocide to its people.

Second Israel has not aggressively threatened to destroy and annihilate another country. Iran has, even though Israel's existence should mean nothing to Iran one way or the other. (By the way, this is in direct violation of Article 2 of the UN Charter, something both Israel and Iran both signed on to. Don't hold your breath waiting for the UN to punish Iran for violating this.)

Third, Iran signed the NPT and is in violation of it. Israel, justifiably mistrustful of the good will of the `international community' chose not to.

Lastly, the Jewish people have had the experience of seeing a substantial portion of their population wiped out in the most brutal fashion imaginable within living memory..while the rest of the world pretty much did nothing to stop it. And Israel has very little reason to believe that the world at large would do very much more if it happened again. In such circumstances, Israel is ENTITLED to that extra measure of security.

Hans Blix's equation of Israel and Iran's situation is fatuous, frankly racist and in itself a good justification for Israel to keep its guard up and not rely on `international goodwill' for its survival.

People like Blix are the reason Israel was necessary in the first place.
