Update! The Senate just passed the detainee bill!

The nerve of those filthy Americans! How dare they tryto take away our right to kill them!

Woo hoo!

In the end, the Senate Democrats realized that, with people already considering them weak on national defence, the last thing they needed was to impede common sense legislation like this.

The 65-34 vote means the bill could reach the president's desk by week's end to be signed into law. The House of Representatives passed almost identical legislation on Wednesday by 253-168 and was expected to endorse the Senate bill on Friday, then ship it to the White House.

Here's a link to the roll call: U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

Remember these 34 Senators who tried to handcuff the war against jihad when you vote..

Looks like Menendez and Lautenberg (my senators) finally got something right. And not a second too soon, either.

why is this a partisan issue?
clinton sided with the mass. senators.
of course there will be spin to follow.
the republikrats continue to demonstrate they are not the party of conservatives.
snowe not voting.
chaffee nay.
using ken burns as my source, lincoln suspended habeus corpus and came within an inch of arresting the supreme court chief justice.
maybe it's just that the US has not been attacked by anyone.
we were attacked by extremeism, according to shrub.
extremeism are not people. it is an idea and/or state of mind, and in this country we can think as we choose. and when "they" choose to act on those ideas it will always be too late.
honestly can't figure why shrub is pushing this in the first place.
must be the saudis will get something out of it. if not the lap dog wouldn't be pushing it.
