SBA jihad funding

Blogpal Debbie Schlussel has an amazing story about how 19 people -17 of whom are Muslims, mostly in Dearbornistan - ripped off the SBA's small business loan program for over $76.8 million dollars of your money in fraudulent loans.

As Debbie wrote, these people ` lied at every step of the way, fraudulently misrepresenting their employment, status as U.S. citizens, work experience, value of property for alleged businesses, and that they put up a federally mandated 25% stake in the loans. In essence, they obtained loans for businesses they never intended to buy, never put up any money for, and aren't even U.S. citizens.'

As she also relates, most of the defendants are Lebanese Shi'ites....which means the money could very easily have gone overseas to Hezbollah or Amal.

I would add this interesting tidbit to the story, based on my personal experience with the program...it's difficult if not impossible to scam the SBA unless you have someone on the inside at the banks that wrote the loans and did the funding. Somebody at those banks had to deliberately look the other way and not exercise the customary oversight on this program before the funds were released to the defendants.

Is there a Muslim or Muslims with jihadi sympathies working as vice presidents or loan officers at one of the banks involved?

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that there are. Will the FBI investigate this?

this may be off topic, but are loans, and/or loans like this verbotin in muslim land?
can these people ever be allowed their virgins for such an offense?
this would be a good question, i think, for the next installment of you're the Qadi or whatever it was that chimp boy ripped off from ff.
i'll bet it's ok in muslim law to do this because you are scamming the great satan.

Exactly. If it `advances Dar Islam', it's fine and dandy...anything goes.

The SBA does not give loans to any small business. It guarentees loans made by commercail banks made to small businesses with a good business plan.

The SBA Federal Government Small Business Program is covered in detail at the below web site:

Dear Ken,
Please re-read this paragraph:

I'm quite familiar with how the SBA works, thanks.
