Obama Gears Up For His Nuclear Summit

The show starts starts today as Obama, Hillary and other Obama Administration functionaries prepare to meet a bevy of world leaders:

The nation's capital is gearing up for a very busy couple of days. President Obama opens a summit on nuclear security Monday with dozens of world leaders scheduled to attend. Mr. Obama said Sunday that he was pleased by their sense of urgency and warned that al Qaeda wouldn't hesitate to use a nuclear weapon if it could, as CBS News correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports.

In Washington, security has been stepped up at hotels, embassies and meeting sites of the nuclear security summit. With 47 governments attending, it's thought to be the biggest gathering of world leaders ever in the nation's capital.

That pretty much tells you how farcical the entire conference is.

Supposedly about reining in nuclear proliferation, it doesn't include Iran or North Korea. And does anyone seriously think that embarrassing questions are going to be put to Russia or Pakistan, two of the biggest offenders?

Pakistan is still protecting Dr. AQ Kahn, the man who developed Pakistan's bomb and turned the Pakistani nuclear program into a supermarket for any willing buyers and Russia is on the verge of creating another rogue state armed with nukes in Iran for fun and profit.

I have a feeling none of this is going to come up.

Notable absences? Aside from Israel's Netanyahu, the UK's Gordon Brow,Australia's Mark Rudd and Saudi Arabia's Abdullah are giving the show a miss as well. This is a direct reflection of how badly the Obama Administration has handled key allies.
