GOP To Formally Request Obama Administration Not Shred Documents

The Republicans first aim during the transition? Trying to get the Obama Administration not to shred any documents the Republicans have their eye on.

The Republican leadership did not press this during the campaign, but they will almost certainly make a formal request that the administration not to shred or delete any relevant documents that could be requested in a congressional probe.

Come January, the GOP is going to have a House majority and will enjoy subpoena power — something they haven't had in four years. I can almost guarantee they'll use it.

Meanwhile, they will need to monitor very closely what's going on in the White House in this area. I'm sure the shredders started running last night.

With Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) set to become chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, a lot of things may come to light.
