Etta James Makes The Passage

At 73, after a long bout with leukemia.

She endured business troubles, man troubles and a nasty bout with heroin addiction, but through it all, that sexy, sassy, unbridled voice with the sweet edge never left. Listen to 'At Last''I'd Rather Go Blind' or her live album if you can find it..you'll see what I mean.

She influenced a whole slew of singers like Janis Joplin, Beyonce and Bonnie Rait, and she always remained a sort of highway between R&B pop and blues.

'Peaches' has finally found the peace she looked for all her life.

She had a beautiful voice. I hope she enjoyed her life with all those problems.
