Obama: " I'm Constrained By A System Our Founders Put In Place"...Not!

President Obama had a few remarks to make today in Colorado about gun control. His speech came in the wake of legislation passed in that state that severely impacts Second Amendment rights. As CBS News reported:

“Every day that we wait to do something about it even more of our fellow citizens are stolen from our lives by a bullet from a gun. Now the good news is Colorado has already chosen to do something about it,” he said.

“You hear some of these quotes: ‘I need a gun to protect myself from the government.’ ‘We can’t do background checks because the government is going to come take my guns away,’ Obama said. “Well, the government is us. These officials are elected by you. They are elected by you. I am elected by you. I am constrained, as they are constrained, by a system that our Founders put in place. It’s a government of and by and for the people.”

Notice the parts I emphasized. As always, this president is quite good at appearing to say one thing when he means something else that's 180 degrees away.

What the president is saying here is very different from saying he's constrained from gun confiscation. What he's saying is that if he and other elected officials feel they have a political mandate to do so because of an election, they very much can confiscate guns..'for the greater good.' That's what has happened in every state but one that has voted on issues like same sex marriage, for instance. It's how the president decided to operate on the DREAM Act even though congress voted against it three times.

To put it bluntly, President Obama just told you exactly where he's headed on emasculating the Second Amendment.
