I tend to agree ...This is a very interesting post. I tend to agree that Israel can pull this off alone. Israel's defeating of the Syrian air defense system is something the Americans could not have done, as they lack the flying skills, the technology, or the leadership of the Israelis. Also, the Russian system was designed with Russia's arch enemy America in mind not with Israel in mind necessarily. As such, when confronted with the superior IAF rather than the USAF the system was beaten.

The Americans would not be able to do this unless their systems are outfitted with the necessary Israeli improvements, the appropiate personnel are trained on these upgraded systems, the flying skills of the pilots are improved, and the leadership is improved on the American side. To be blunt, there simply is not time for all of this. The Americans would be a net liability to the operation.

Also, if the Americans are involved in the operation or informed of it by the Israelis, the Iranians would learn of it almost instantly due to the heavy infiltration of Iranian, Russian, Chinese, and other anti-American interests and agents within the US government. Given America's situation and the need of this operation to be successful, the chances of its succcess are better the less America is involved. Prudent Amreican leadership would get out of Israel's way.

If by the "West" we mean America, Canda, the nations of Western Europe, Australia, and perhaps South Korea and Japan, it is incorrect and misleading to lump these together into some sort of monolithic entity. Each of these nations including each nation in Western Europe has a unique culture as well as interests that are very often contradictory to the interests of the others. Also, to most of the above named nations America is a strategic competitor. As such, at least in the short run, should America meet with calamity most of the leaders of these nations and most of citizens of these countries would view such an event as a good thing. Essentially America should not expect any help from the "West!!"

While this is a good analysis, it misses one key thing. What will the Russians and Chinese do? I'm not sure of the answer to that but I'm sure they are not going to sit by and do nothing. I'd expect Russia to get involved militarily to protect their Iranian ally. Russia is itching at a chance to take on their arch enemy, America, in combat. As such, direct Russian military involvement becomes much more likely if Amrica is involved in a military action against Iran in some way. This would make the operation much more difficulty which leads to another good reason why America needs to stay out of the way. In summary, the less American involvement the more likely the operation is to succeed. Since the operation needs to succeed, we should GET OUT OF THE WAY!!B.Posternoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16816866.post-64016052660265565322012-02-24T00:34:24.097-08:002012-02-24T00:34:24.097-08:00BTW, Louie, Old School is British and unless I...BTW, Louie, Old School is British and unless I'm mistaken, experienced Blitz as a child.Robhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13332213651195340500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16816866.post-9203996472233641982012-02-24T00:32:34.319-08:002012-02-24T00:32:34.319-08:00Hi Louie,
Whatever their sins ( and in my opinion,...Hi Louie,
Whatever their sins ( and in my opinion, they were considerable) nothing excuses the Blitz. Hundreds of perfectly innocent people died because the Nazis decided they could break the Brits by terror bombing London, no different from the jihadis of today.

They fought Hitler alone, Louie, and if they hadn't held out and if we hadn't gotten in, the next stop for the Nazis would have been New York as soon as they felt ready to do it.

If Montgomery and the 8th Army had been defeated at El-Alamein and had to retreat, Eichmann, along with his good buddy the 'Palestinian' leader Grand Mufti Haj-Amin al-Husseini had plans for a death camp for Palestine's Jews, to be situated near Nablus.

Even people like Ben-Gurion, who knew that the Brits were complicit in the death toll of the Holocaust urged members of the Palmach to sign on to fight the Nazis under the Brits. He said "We shall fight Hitler as though there was no White Paper ( the document barring all Jewish immigrants from the Palestine Mandate)and we shall fight the White Paper as though there was no Hitler."

You're correct, there were a number of things America and the Brits could have done during the Holocaust to save Jews and cut down the carnage considerably. That stuff has it's own karma, and it's spelled out quite clearly if you read and believe the Bible.

But that doesn't mean that defeating Hitler and the Japanese was any less of an important accomplishment, and one Britain, America,Australia, Canada and the other countries that participated shouldn't take pride in.

It needed to be done.

Also, one more thing. As horrendous as it's been, I think it has been a necessary growth step for Israel to experience an anti-Israel president. It will show them the benefits of more self-reliance and ultimately strengthen the relationship of America and Israel once the current occupant of the White House is history.

The same thing happened when Israel's ally France cut them off from all arms shipments on the eve of the Six Day War. They learned something, and that's where the Israeli arms industry came from.

Regards,
RobRobhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13332213651195340500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16816866.post-37165661393084155162012-02-23T19:41:21.912-08:002012-02-23T19:41:21.912-08:00in reality, the british seat of gov't, where t...in reality, the british seat of gov't, where they make their policy, is in londonstan. however, if i may, ask you to back up about 70 years? now come forward and tell me when and where the sorry excuse for a people that britain is, has ever done anything to benefit/help the jewish people? i can not do it, but i have read ff countless times enumerate the significant events that have unfolded to shape what is now israel. about how the british refused to allow jews to emigrate from europe, in the late thirties and sealed their fate in those camps. i have numerous times, watched historic documentaries of the blitz of londonstan, and said to myself, if they had just bombed the shit out of them for a little longer .......
imo, if not for those camps, there was no reason for the US to fight in europe. the british stood by and did nothing.
and granted, as isolationist as the US was, did very little either.
so now we have probably the most anti-israel person on the north american continent occupying the oval office.
given those two facts, the conduct of these two nations is predictable.
the only reason the americans would get involved is because the current occupant of the white house is a sunni, and it will get him votes.
now if bush were dreaming this shit up, you can bet the media would be screaming "war crimes" 24/7.
and you can bet, that when bibi tells hussein anything, the ayatollahs will know it within ten minutes.louielouienoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16816866.post-71963666917345540322012-02-23T18:01:32.232-08:002012-02-23T18:01:32.232-08:00In reality, the British and the Americans should b...In reality, the British and the Americans should be joining with Israel to eliminate this rogue regime's threat to world peace. But I'm afraid the leaders of both countries lack the necessary spine, so it shall be left to Israel to save the western democracies that consistently dishonour her from their folly.
