Given the massive US intelligence failures that led to the 9/11 attacks, the failure to find Iraqi WMD, the failures in Afghanistan, and failures dating as far back as the 1980s (with those failures we were simply "blessed" or "lucky" depending upon one's perspective that none of this led to a catastrophic battlefield defeat or worse our complete destruction), this current failure should surprise no one.

As an example of the failures in the 1980s our forces were given out of date maps of the terrain as well as the locations of enemy forces in Grenada. I could go on. That merely scratches the surface Suffice it to say I'm NOT making up things to support the fact that US Intel Services consist of a combination of incompetent boobs, political hacks, and mostly both of the above.

After the attacks of 9/11 we had a golden opportunity to address these problems. Unfortunately the "Bush lied, kids died" meme as well as the arguably more destructive "911 truther" movement was created in order to protect some very dishonorable and incompetent men and women and the structural changes to US Intelligence Services were never made and continue to pay the price for this!!

G_d help us all!! He has before. Perhaps He will see fit to do so again. As I see it right now, this is the only way we prevail. In the natural realm, our adversaries are simply far to powerful and when combined with the general incompetence of the leadership it can be argued quite convincingly that no nation in history has ever faced the longer odds than the USA faces right now.

The Holy Scriptures do discuss in great detail the difficulties faced by the ancient Israelites. America's challenges today are equally if not more daunting than they faced. In all things a healthy reliance on G_d is the best place to start. After that, at least for America, a change in leadership would be extremely helpful.
