I personally never understood how Armistad's brigade managed to even make it to the Union lines, let alone break through briefly.<br /><br />Stonewall Jackson loved nothing better than to pursue a fleeing enemy, and had he been in command instead of Ewell, there's no question in my mind that he would have chased what was left of Buford's troops off the high ground and dug in.
