Muhammed Ali received the Medal Of Freedom from President Bush today in his first public appearence in five months. This is the highest civilian honor the United States can bestow. I had seen various stories about the Champ's deteriorating health recently, but Ali came through like the Champ he's always been, wisecracking with the President and standing unaided throughout the ceremony to applaud the other recipients.
Those of us to whom this wonderful human being will always be the Champ applaud this well deserved honor and wish him the best.
