Another deadline ends today...this time with Iran
Today, July 5th is the deadline established by the West for Iran to give a definitive response to the lavish incentives package offered them for the sole quid pro quo of stopping uranium enrichment during negotiations. This is the date that Iran's nuclear negotiater Ali Larijani and EU appeaser-in-chief....uh-foreign policy chief Javier Solana are scheduled to meet in Brussels, Belgium.
The Iranians have already said that they were not planning on responding until they are good and ready and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khameinei has already said that Iran has rejected the package. So it's no surprise that Larijani said on yesterday that he wouldn't be giving Iran's response to the six-nation package over Iran's nuclear issue in his coming meeting with Solana.
Larijani was also quoted as saying that "the upcoming meeting will mark the beginning of our negotiations with Europe."
In other words, more playing for time... using further negotiations as a ploy and attempting to get even more out of the West! How high will they go?
Of course, the Iran story and their hedging on deadlines has been knocked off the front pages by what's happening in Gaza..which is definitely NOT a coincidence, in my view.
I think we'll see more of these sort of distractions as Iran uses it's allies to play for time.
Meanwhile, of course, the Iranian nukes program and the beefing up of its military continues at high speed.
Stay tuned...
