Buh-Bye, Air America

Yee Haw!! Bombs Away!!

Parting is such sweet sorrow.

Air America, the Leftist talk radio `network' (4, 5 stations maybe?) has filed for bankruptcy.

Air America might remain on the air, but significant personnel changes are already in the works. Sources say five Air America employees were laid off yesterday and were told there would be no severance without capital infusion or bankruptcy.

In other words, the good hearted `liberals' at Air America abrogated their contracts illegally without regard to AFTRA union regulations and threw them out on the street.

But then, what else would you expect from the sort of people who would cheerfully steal money from underprivileged children?

I have to smirk a bit as I compare this kind of labor relations with the behavior of Air America whipping boy George Bush in a similar situation...when he was forced to sell his oil company, he insisted that the new purchasers keep on his employees as part of the deal, or no deal period.

At one point, when they first started out, I had high hopes for Air America. As regular members of Joshua's Army have noted, I enjoy divergent views and debating them...even if most of the people expressing those views are `anonymous' and melt away the minute they're challenged with the cold light of FACTS, as opposed to emotion.

After listening to Air America a few hours, I realized they were ultimately doomed because it was one vast echo chamber...and that gets boring real quick unless you're already a member of the Leftist choir.

There's an audience for this kind of thing, as `Think Progress' points out,and a bit of profit to be made but it's severely limited. Most Leftists do better in college classrooms, in print, on the lecture circuit or on the political stump mouthing platitudes before a captive audience that ordinarily has a very limited opportunity to respond.
