Lynne Stewart, American Traitor gets off with 28 months

Today was the sentencing day for attorney Lynne Stewart, 67. She was convicted of `providing material support to terrorists' back in February, 2005.

Here's what she actually did.

Stewart was the attorney for Sheik Omar Abdul Rahman, the so-called `blind Sheik'who was the mastermind behind the first World Trade Center bombing, sentenced to life in prison for his part in plots to blow up five New York landmarks including the United Nations, the FBI's New York field office, and both the Holland and Lincoln tunnels and to assassinate Egypt's president Mubarak.

Stewart entered into a conspiracy with two other defendents, Mohamed Yousry, an Arabic interpreter, and Ahmed Abdel Sattar, a U.S. postal worker. They carried secret messages between the sheik and senior members of the fascist Muslim brotherhood and Rahman's al Qaeda-connected Islamic Group, in violation of the federal laws against providing material support to terrorists, rules of attorney client privilege and Federal rules she had agreed to designed to keep the blind cleric from inciting violence and plotting terrorist strategy with his followers as a prerequisite for representing Rahman.

Stewart also was convicted of defrauding the government and making false statements.

As a major figure in the communist front National Lawyers Guild, Stewart used every legal trick in the book to defer justice...even to the point of claiming that Islamofuhrer Rahman's orders to his thugs was `protected speech'!

Federal prosecutors told U.S. District Judge John G. Koeltl that Stewart's "egregious, flagrant abuse of her profession, abuse that amounted to material support to a terrorist group, deserves to be severely punished."

Prosecutors asked for the maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.

Stewart, whose sentencing was delayed after she was diagnosed with breast cancer last year and underwent treatment, asked the judge for mercy.

"The end of my career truly is like a sword in my side," She said in court Monday. "Permit me to live out the rest of my life productively, lovingly, righteously."

She was sentenced to an additional 28 months in prison, by Judge Koeltl, a Clinton appointee.

They should have hung her.

  4. That's what happens when you get a Clinton appointee as a judge.

And to add insult to injury, Stewart is appealing this slap on the wrist!
