Penn President poses with costumed suicide bomber

Just when you thought dhimmi-itis couldn't get more ridiculous...

Penn State president Dr. Amy Gutmann is seen above standing with engineering student Saad Saadi at the annual Halloween costume party held at the president's home.Gutmann, appropriately, is dressed as Galinda, the Good Witch from the Wizard of Oz.

Gutmann, by the way, identifies herself as Jewish, and has been Penn's president since 2004.

In other photos taken at Gutmann's party that evening, Saadi can be seen carrying out a series of mock hostage executions, evoking images reminiscent of the series of abductions and murders of Westerners in Iraq in 2004.

In one instance, Saadi stands over a fellow student crouched on the ground, and points a gun at her head while reciting verses from the Koran.

Lovely.

The day after the party, Saadi was quoted in the Daily Pennsylvanian, the campus newspaper, as saying that he attended Gutmann's affair dressed as a "freedom martyr."

Carl in Jerusalem at Israel Matzav has more on this. Apparently, once the fit hit the shan, Gutmann made a statement saying she was `unaware' of Saadi's costume: "This year," Gutmann said, "one student who had a toy gun in hand had his picture taken with me before it was obvious to me that he was dressed as a suicide bomber."

Wannabe Jew killer Saadi has a different story. According to what he told the Daily Pennsylvanian, Gutmann got a big laugh out of his costume, and when he approached her for to the photo, she joked, "'How did they let you through security?'"

What a yuck, eh Professor?

Of course, after Saadi went public, Gutmann changed her story again. She said that after she realized he was dressed as a suicide bomber, she refused to take any more pictures with him. "The costume is clearly offensive and I was offended by it," she said.

Look at the picture. Looks pretty outraged, doesn't she? Not.

Moreover, she acknowledged that "the student had the right to wear the costume just as I, and others, have a right to criticize his wearing of it."

No, professor, he damn well didn't have the right to dress up as a rascist murderer. You simply made a decision to tolerate and allow it.

I'm sure if Saadi had been dressed up as a Klansman or had a costume with an anti-Gay theme, Gutmann would have been just a wee bit more critical..yah think? But because he dressed up as somebody specializing in killing Gutmann's fellow Jews, all's well.

What if Gutmann had taken a smiley face picture with someone dressed as a Klansman? How long do you think it would be before the `progressives' at Penn were howling for her resignation?

The fact that Jew hatred has become acceptable in some quarters, even as a joke is a mark of shame in our society. And it's especially disgraceful when Jews collude in it, a mere sixty years after the Holocaust Gutmann's own family fled from, with living witnesses still among us who saw it happen first hand.

A little thing, a mere glitch in the ozone, but highly indicative of where things are at the moment.

Remember the canary in the coal mine.

You know, I don't really think it's jew hatred, at least not in this case. I think it's just ignorance. People like Dr. Gutmann and her fellow "progressives" see the Palestinians as freedom fighters, and the Israelis as the brutal oppressors. It doesn't excuse what she did, but I'd think you'd be hard-pressed to find overt anti-Semitism in America outside of muslim circles.

  2. Hi Nazar,

Dr. Guttman is merely stupid, self-hating and hypocritical. But there are far too many like her.

Here's my point: when people make special rules that apply to one country alone and apply standards to that country that are applied to no other, and that country just happens to be the only Jewish nation on earth, that is defacto anti-Semitism.

And when self-defined `progressives' take the side of or excuse the deeds of genocidal, anti-American murderers who pray on the civilians of that nation, or otherwise oppose its existence as the only Jewish nation on earth, that is also likewise racist and anti-Semitic.

It's an attempt to deny Jews the right of self-determination strictly because of their ethnicity.

As for anti-Semitism in the general American population, you're correct..but where it exists, outside of the Muslim community is in the `progressive' circles people like Dr. Guttman inhabit.

And what's more, thanks to massive Arab investment in our schools and universities and the political correctness and hypocrisy of people like Dr. Guttman, these views are being promulgated in Academia as the gospel.

It is a mere hop step and jump from demonizing the Jews in Israel as a bunch of racist Nazis who deserve to be killed and have their country taken away from them to demonizing American Jews as a bunch of racist Nazis who deserve whatever they get.

Think I'm overly paranoid? Maybe. But Go to an anti-war rally sometime and look at the signs..or listen to the way a lot of the left uses `neocon' and talks about the `pro-Zionist' PNAC as a synonym for `dirty Jews'..or, as I said, look at the voting records and statements of some of the `progressive' politicians slated to be committee chairmen in a Democratic party majority congress.

I'm not on top of this, sitting here in the UK, but I've seen some of the demonstrator's signs, and they look like anti-Semitism to me.
However, don't many of the people on the left in the US set the same impossibly high standards for the US itself? Aren't they paying Israel a very back-handed compliment?

Are you sure they oppose Israel just because it's the only Jewish nation? I always thought they were against Israel because they thought the Israelis stole all the Palestinians' land or somesuch.

a couple of years ago, at oklahoma state university, some of the agriculture fraternity members dressed up in black face. the state went ballistic. the frat was put on probation. the members had to go to sensitivity classes.

i see no difference here. this excrement for brains excuse for a human should be required to go to sensitivity training as well as the clueless and legally blonde president. that is, of course, before she is FIRED!!!!!!

    AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN

this was a very good comment ff, peeled some of the paint off the wall the monitor faces.

  7. Hi Y'all. Thanks for weighing in.

Canker, I appreciate what you're saying, but frankly, most Israelis wold probably prefer not to be the recipiants of that sort of compliment, especially given the way it tends to manifest itself.

One of my British friends was bemused to see jihadi Muslims in full regalia at a demonstration calling for Israel's destruction..accompanied by radical feminists, gay groups and leftists of all stripes. They all had just this one thing in common...

Hi Nazar, much of the Left does in fact hate Israel for a number of reasons, primed by massive Arab investment in our universities:

    a) Israel is considered a surrogate for the US. And these people are, by and large, not patriots. If Israel has created a failed Socialist state and been part of the Soviet Bloc and the Arabs were the pro-US clients, you'd see how that particular worm would have turned.

    b) Israel is seen as a `white, colonialist' power, even though it is more racially diverse and democratic than any Arab state.

    c) The Left has never for given Israel because of it's role in helping to end the Soviet empire by defeating the Russians in the Middle East.

As for the Israelis stealing Arab land, I suggest you read Joan Peter's book `From Time Immemorial' or visit the archives of the Jewish National Fund and take a look at how much land exists that was legally purchased by the Jews prior to 1948 from the Arab emirs at inflated prices that is now being demanded by the Arabs as `Arab Land' to get the full flavor of that particular scam.

In the end, it is all simply BS, and a lot of the Left knows it, but prefers not to acknowledge it because it fits the agenda..so it comes down to the same thing in the end.

And BTW..Israel aside, let's not forget abut the many Americans murdered by the `freedom martyrs'Mr. Saadi so eagerly portrayed.

Guttman is the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) president, NOT Penn State, though I have to say we're not all that proud of her around here
