Gaza truce breaks down amid shootouts between Hamas and Fatah

There were five fatalities in the latest Gaza shoot-em-ups between the Hamas and Fatah gangs, with gunfights breaking out in both Gaza City and Khan Younis.

Ismail Haniyeh, Hamas PM, came rushing home from Jordan to deal with the mess, which also involved over 20 people being kidnapped yesterday by both sides.

There are some reports of a renewed `ceasefire' between the gangs, but I'll believe that when I see it.

In another move, the Palestinian Authority suggested that all European and American nationals leave the Gaza Strip because of the danger of kidnapping. This comes a day or so after AFP photographer Jaime Razuri was kidnapped at gunpoint in Gaza City as he got out of his car with his driver.
