Blair calls it quits

After a decade in power, British PM Tony Blair has announced that he will resign on June 27th, 2007.

He is expected to endorse Gordon Brown, now Chancellor of the Exchequer as his successor.

Assuming Brown gets the nod as head of the Labour Party and becomes PM, we may be in for some interesting times, as Gordon Brown is on record as wanting to move Britain away from what's commonly referred to as the `special relationship' the US and Britain enjoy and further towards the EU stance.

Funny thing is, as Brown wants to move Britain left, the leadership on the continent appears to be moving further right and closer to America, with the elections of Germany's Merkel and France's Sarkozy.... and Brown and Labour might have problems of their own staying in power if Scotland opts for independence...
