Ah, those Danes...


It's traditional in Denmark to burn the effigy of a witch on Midsummer's Day in order to banish evil from the country and ensure good luck for the people in the coming year.

My pal Baron Bodissey at Gates of Vienna reports that this year, a group of Danes added a variation to the ceremony..they burnt an effigy of Mohammed, to symbolize the need to rid Western Europe of a new and different type of evil.

Apparently this was taped, and the video and photos should be coming out fairly soon. I'll keep you posted. No word yet on whether anyone provided marshmallows.
