Sir Winston Churchill dropped from British School Curiculum
Yes, you read that right. Sir Winston Churchill has been dropped from a list of key historical figures recommended for teaching in English secondary schools.
Apparently, this is part of a radical `overhaul' of secondary school curriculum for 11- to 14-year-olds, supposedly to make it more `relevant' and `up to date'.
Sir Winston's grandson Nicholas Soames, a Conservative Member of Parliament, described the move as "madness."
"It is absurd. I expect he wasn't New Labour enough for them ... this is a Government that is very careless of British history and always has been...if you're surprised that people do not seem to care that much about the country in which they live, the reason is that they don't know much about it."
Unfortunately, the victors write the history, Mr. Soames. Even if they have to lie by omission.
The History Curriculum Association of Britain said it was "appalled" by the move, saying the new curriculum would "promote ignorance" and was pandering to a politically-correct agenda.
No kidding!
British Labour Schools Secretary Ed Balls defended the move, saying a slimmed-down curriculum was badly needed.
Just for the record, in 2002, a BBC poll with more than one million votes chose Sir Winston Churchill as the Greatest Briton of all time.
When a country panders to the wishes of its enemies and disregards its heroes, it's in its death throes.
As for Sir Winston, I'm sure he'd have a very different gesture than the one above for the Labour bureaucrats who apparently are working to erase his memory.
Cousins,be ashamed of yourselves.
