Watcher's Council Results, 7/13/07

The Council has spoken! A complete list of results can be found at the site of our fearless leader, the infamous Watcher of Weasels

This week's winner is Big Lizards: High Noonan Dafydd Ab Hugh's defense of President Bush from Peggy Noonan and similar Reaganites who find the current occupant of the White House less than stellar. Congratulations, Dafydd.

In second place was my own submission, J O S H U A P U N D I T: The NYT - "Run Away! Run Away!" My visceral reaction to congresses' efforts to legislate an immediate pull out and a US defeat in Iraq with no consideration of what it will do to our war effort, our friends, our enemies or our military. And of course, the New York Times editorial, `The Road Home' which personifies this attitude and contains an amazing amount of disinformation, defeatism and conclusions which bear no relation to reality.

General Petraeus is finally beginning to make some progress there..and frankly,I don't think that progress and the vigorous attempts to sabotage him on the home front are unrelated.

For non-Council, the winner was View From a Height: An Interview With Todd Bensman an illuminating piece fro those proponents of amnesty who still look at this as primarily an immigration and economic issue.

Bensman comments of his series in the San Antonion Express-News about his four-part series, "Breaching America" which follows an illegal immigrant to the US - from Iraq.

As the series documents, there's a well established pipeline for illegals from "Countries of Special Interest" - AKA Muslim countries in the Middle East - that runs through Latin America into the US..and we have no control or knowledge over what's coming through there.

Recommended.

In second place for non-Council was Zombietime:Anti-American July 4th an account by photo-journalist Zombie of this year's July Fourth festivities in his home town of San Francisco. The pictures say it all.

Hearty Kudos to all the winners!
