Major Islamist Attack Thwarted in Germany
Three Muslims were arrested in Germany in the advanced planning stages of what the Germans have described as a “massive attacks”. The targets were Frankfurt International Airport and the United States’ Ramstein Air Base.
"They were planning massive attacks," said German federal prosecutor Monika Harms.
The plan was to attack Frankfurt’s international airport along with the Ramstein Air Base, a key US military hub, Harms said. They also planned to hit and nightspots popular with Americans. "As possible targets for the attacks, the suspects named discotheques and pubs and airports frequented by Americans," she said.
The wanna be jihadis were by no means amateurs. They had trained at camps in Pakistan (amazing how many times these things end up coming from Pakistan, Iran or Saudi Arabia) run by the Islamic Jihad Union, an al Qaeda offshoot. And they already gotten their hands on about 1500 pounds of hydrogen peroxide for making explosives, the same material used in the London bombings which were likewise carried out by Islamist terrorists who got their training in Pakistan. Hydrogen peroxide is an easily obtained or manufactured chemical that, combined with other additives can be used to make a very potent explosive.
The three plotters were two German converts to Islam radicalized in Germany's mosques, and a Turk. All three were living on Germany's generous unemployment benefits and thus were full time jihadis subsidized by the German tax payers.
Together with the trio the Danes picked up yesterday, this is yet another warning to Europe that they have a serious problem in their midst.
