Representative Tom Tancredo decided to end his underdog race for the GOP nomination tonight.
He has endorsed Mitt Romney.
Tom Tancredo can be credited with bringing the illegal alien issue to the forefront of the national debate. It's an issue that won't go away anytime soon, partially thanks to him.
Since Tom Tancredo has already announced that he won't be running for re-election to the House, we might very well see him again as a Senate candidate in Colorado to replace the retiring Wayne Allard.
I've posted this at more than just this blog, but I definitely do not work for Romney's campaign. I want some conservatives, who I feel haven't given Mitt a fair shake thus far, to seriously reconsider their positions. Romney is clearly now the anti-illegal immigration candidate. What candidate can win the support of ALL conservatives...fiscal, defense, AND social? Mitt's the man!
ReplyDeleteI have no problem with Romney, and especially not with the LDS. The fact remains that I doubt he can win a general election, even if he gets the nomination.
ReplyDeleteThere are lots of people who simply will not vote for a Mormon, which is why Huckabee is surging right now by playing to that. And Romney is incredibly scripted, with a tendency to fumble big time whenever the script is challenged by events.
I would also give him honorable mention on the War on Jihad, but he lacks the visceral understanding of the kind of war we're in possessed by Giuliani and Duncan Hunter.
That issue is going to become increasingly important, much more so than the general public realizes now.

ff
Serious issues of Romney's credibility have been raised since he declared he saw his father march with Martin Luther King, and he claimed he was a life long hunter...He later recanted the latter that he, ya' know hunted a few rabbits or whatever. When you start saying whatever it takes to get elected, you move yourself into Hillary's class...
