Or at least that's how the
Talk about embracing dhimmi status with both hands...
The good Archbishop was speaking on the Beeb's Radio 4 and said that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system. And that Muslims should not have to choose between "the stark alternatives of cultural loyalty or state loyalty".
Now, why not, Dr. Williams? are you planning on foregoing Christ's abjuration about rendering to Caesar the things that are Caesar's - just for Muslims? Doesn't every other religion have to alter some of its cultural practices to abide by British law? Isn't the agreement to abide by Britain's laws and uphold them one of the prerequisites for citizenship or residence? And why shouldn't someone who's British and a Muslim owe his allegiance to his country rather than the Muslim umma?
And what about sharia itself, which mandates an inferior status for women,Jews and Christians, and the death penalty for apostates and homosexuals?
The Archbishop, amazingly, defended his views by cherry -picking sharia, saying people people needed to look at Islamic law "with a clear eye."
"They should not imagine, either, that we know exactly what we mean by Sharia and just associate it with ... Saudi Arabia, or whatever," he continued.
"Nobody in their right mind would want to see in this country the kind of inhumanity that has sometimes been associated with the practice of the law in some Islamic states: the extreme punishments, the attitudes to women."
But that's sharia, Dr. Williams. And as a matter of fact, since you mention Saudi Arabia, what about the fact that the vast majority of the mosques in Britain are controlled by the Deobandi sect, a wahabi offshoot that believes in much the same interpretation of Islam as the Saudis do?
There is a subtext to Dr. Rowan William's remarks, and it's not going to be a pleasant one for our cousins across the pond to face.
What this tired old dhimmi is saying is that Britain has imported for itself a large population that do not respect or abide by its laws and have no loyalty to the country. And that Britain had better get used to it, appease these people and hope to be left in relative peace.
I suppose it remains for the UK to decide if living on their knees is preferable to standing on their feet...
Thanks for saying it. I no longer have the stamina. The hour is late. He has forgotten all about Numbers 15:15-16 (ONE law for both the citizen AND the stranger in our midst), and hasn't seen the present relevance of Daniel 7:24-25. The end times are close. And the Archdruid Williams wishes to mislead his flock away from faith in the one true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. I hope they have better discernment than he has!
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, Deobandism isn't an "offshoot" of Wahhabism/Salafism (which has problems with Sufist innovations), though some have been influenced by both. Here's a link to what a popular Salafist website has to say about Deobandism:

Hi Orde
ReplyDeleteActually, I think it is an offshoot.Wikipedia among other sources has some good background on the Deobandis, and they come from pretty much the same theological place as the wahabi Saudis.
Both are attempts to 'purify' Islam an d return to th egood ol' days of th e7th century in a reponse to the modern world, and in fact Wahabism predated the Deobandis and influenced them.
Not that it matters, when you come down to it. It all pretty much smells the same.
