The WAPO Smears McCain And Gets Caught At It

By now, it's pretty evident that most of the dinosaur media are so attached to Barack Obama's posterior that if he makes a left turn without signaling, a lot of them will end up with broken necks.

A primary tactic is going to be the attempt to ascribe Obama's very real weaknesses on things like national security to McCain, a variation of the old ten-year-old's playground response when caught in a misdeed, `he did it too!'

A case in point was this editiorial in the WAPO by ex-Clintonista and state department hack James Rubin, who attacked McCain and accused him of using "Nixon-style dirty campaign tactics" for insinuating (quite correctly) that Hamas and other Islamic radicals are rooting for an Obama victory.

According to Rubin, McCain himself is guilty of hypocrisy in attacking Obama because McCain gave him an interview two years ago that suggested that a US president would have to deal with Hamas.

Actually the real hypocrite is Rubin.

Using quote from a neatly edited You Tube Video, Rubin attacked McCain for saying the following:

“They’re the government; sooner or later we are going to have to deal with them, one way or another, and I understand why this administration and previous administrations had such antipathy towards Hamas because of their dedication to violence and the things that they not only espouse but practice, so . . . but it’s a new reality in the Middle East. I think the lesson is people want security and a decent life and decent future, that they want democracy. Fatah was not giving them that.”

Here's the video:

As Hot Air notes, 'dealing with them one way or another'could mean a lot of different things...most notably that since they were now the government, McCain expected a different stance from them if they wanted to be treated as a legitimate negotiang partner, and would base his actions accordingly.

McCain himself issued the following press release on 1/26/06:

In the wake of yesterday’s Palestinian elections, Hamas must change itself fundamentally - renounce violence, abandon its goal of eradicating Israel and accept the two-state solution. These elections are evidence that democracy is indeed spreading in the Middle East, but Hamas is not a partner for peace so long as they advocate the overthrow of Israel.

Not only that, but there this CNN interview, done minutes after the one with Rubin:

Some flipflop.

Notice, if you will, that Barack Hussein Obama has not seen fit to condemn this blatant distortion of the truth, nor has the Washington Post seen fit to issue a statement of retraction.

Senator McCain had better get used to this kind of nonsense, and abandon any quaint ideas he had about a gentlemanly campaign.

The zombies are out of the crypt.

UPDATE: For the record, Here's the COMPLETE Rubin/McCain Interview. And it makes it obvious...James Rubin is a disgusting and slanderous liar:
