McCain Accuses Press Of Media Bias

Ah, well...the penny finally appears to have dropped, as our friends in Oz would say as John McCain accused the media of favorable bias toward Obama...:

The Republican presidential hopeful John McCain let his frustration with the US media boil over today for its saturation coverage of Barack Obama's visit to the Middle East and Europe.

McCain, upset over the extent to which his campaign has been eclipsed, launched a new video on the internet titled Obama Love, with quotes from television anchors and other journalists that he regards as evidence of bias.

The launch of the video came the day after McCain protested over what he saw as another sign of bias, a rejection of a comment article on Iraq he submitted to the New York Times.

It is a turnaround for McCain, who established a reputation for good and open relations with the press during his unsuccessful run for the Republican nomination in 2000 and again during this year's primaries contest. But since Obama won the Democratic nomination last month, his campaign team has complained repeatedly the US media is behaving as if the election is a foregone conclusion in favour of Obama.

Real Clear Politics, which tracks all the main opinion polls and publishes an average, shows McCain is only slightly behind Obama, 46% to 41%.

Goodness, Senator..did you actually have the illusion these people were ever going to be fair and unbiased once a leftist Democrat was actually in the running? Do you have any idea how much money the press stands to make on book deals covering the campaign of the First Black President? I'd bet copy is being filed for editing every day.

Ideology aside, a McCain victory would likely cause severe financial distress toa significant portion of the dinosaur media. High time he realized they're no friends of his.

Hey all you Freedom Fries Foo Fighters,

All the media bias in the world still doesn't explain why John McLame doesn't know what country borders Half-a-tank-of-gas-stan, or the difference between Sunni and Shia'.

Worse still, it is most apparent that Iraq's democratically elected leadership DOES want U.S. Troops out of Iraq by 2010, which is in keeping with what both Bush and McSame said before they started spinning BS out their behinds.

This position is closer to Obama's than McCain's -- and that isn't bias but provably true public record.

What would be most amusing if it weren't such a travesty is that this whole "al_Qaeda" and "war on global terrorism" is such a bad joke -- on us ordinary citizens who must debate this false construct of of the DOJ and western global elites who no longer bother to persuade us with appeals to our hopes and aspirations, but rather coerce us into obeying their fear-mongering leadership with irrational nightmare rhetorical scenarios with no basis in reality.

Declaring a "war on terrorism" makes about as much sense as declaring war on "capitalism" or "communism" -- in the long run you can't beat political ideology with brute force.

You defeat bad ideas with better ideas by turning peoples' hearts and minds via sound policy not endless militarization.

  3. Hello, Bandit..
The fake cowboy act is as charming as ever.

Now, I could match you with some of Obama's gaffes about 57 states, 10 years in office, Pakistan and general incoherance when not in front of a teleprompter - but that would be wrong, no?

However, I don't appreciate the cute lil' play on words insulting McCain's name, regardless of what you think of his politics. The man has given extraordinary service to our country in order to keep you and I free to disagree, I won't have it and you ought to be properly ashamed of yourself for doing so.

This isn't Daily Kos.Do it again and you're banned.

Now that we have that unfortunate unpleasantness out of the way, let's deal with substance.

If you read something besides the NYT, you find that Maliki in both cases has said he was 'mistranslated'. I'll translate that for you, Bandit:
things are very much still in play.

Now, I personally have no problem with us getting out of Dodge - provided we deal with Iran first, which was the only reason going into Iraq made any sense in the first place.

If yours truly had been in charge, Iraq would not have been my first stop, and even if I had gone there I would have set up a military governer who's word was law, ala' Japan, and the Iraqis wouldn't have voted until the country was secured and they had learned a bit about democratic institutions...and I would have made damn sure that a US ally won that first election. That's IF I had occupied the country.

As it is, if we leave as Obama suggested you're going to see some interesting results you hadn't bargained for.

I agree with you about the so-called 'war on terror'. It was a stupid concept from Day One and a prime example of what shrinks call 'category error'.It's proper name is the War On Jihad, and if you think it doesn't exist you have even less intelligence than I give you credit for.

And incidentally, totalitarian ideologies aren't defeated with 'ideas' but with superior military might. Such people don't give up power because they decide it's a good idea, but because they are forced to. You might want to read Churchill's history of the Second World War, D'nesh D'Souza's biography of Reagan or Margeret Thatcher's autobiography for further reference.

If a President Obama proceeds with his ideas on demilitarizing the US, you will find out how little 'policy' and 'hearts and minds' mean to these people - and that knowledge could unfortunately be fatal.

I would just like to state for the record that almost 7 years ago I occupied a wood desk 38 floors off the ground in downtown NYC. That ended in a nightmare. It was based in reality. Understandably, I have little tolerance for the looney left.
