At least thirty people were reportedly killed and 53 wounded in an explosion in a UN-run school in the town of Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, according to Palestinians. The IDF issued a statement saying the school grounds were used by terrorists to fire mortar shells at the troops.
The infantrymen returned mortar shell fire into the school grounds, the army said. Defense officials told The Associated Press that booby-trapped bombs in the school triggered the secondary explosions which killed scores of Palestinians on the site.
Just for the record, back in 2007, the IAF actually filmed some of these brave Hamas fighters at the same Gaza school, firing mortars into Israel. The media didn’t have a thing to say about it:
In this context, I have something to say about the outcry over civilian casualties ( at least, the outcry over Arab civilian casualties).
According to the Geneva Convention and every reading of international law, using non-combatants as human shields as Hamas is doing is a war crime.
And according to the Geneva Convention, Section 28 I believe, Israel is entitled to go after combatants sheltering behind civilians in this manner.
I would also point out that Hamas, just like the Nazis, was legitimately elected as the leaders of its population. Hamas is the chosen government of the Palestinians, by a 70% majority, and no one can tell me that Hamas' agenda was any secret to these people.
Choices have consequences. That's simply how the world works.

If using non combatants is a war crime, then all of America's enemies from Afghanistan to Iraq are guilty of war crimes. When will Anerica's enemies be tried for war crimes. All we hear about from the media is the desire to try America's leaders for war crimes. We don't hear much and in most cases we hear nothing about trying America's enemies or their leaders for war crimes. The truth is the actions of America and its leaders have to be judged in the context of what America's enemies are doing.
ReplyDeleteI would agree that Hamas is the chosen government of the Palestinians and their agenda was known to these people when they elected them. In this manner they are simillar to the Nazis, however, their are differences. chief among them is the fact that Hamas poses a far greater threat to America than Nazi Germany or Imperial Japan ever did or likely ever could have.
If Israel fails to defeat Hamas they will be even more dangerous to America than they already are. It is imperative to the well being and probably the survival of America that Israel defeat this enemy. For this to happen, it especially imperative that we as Americans pray for the success of Israel in this very important endeavor and we need to impore our Government to STAY OUT OF ISRAEL'S WAY and let the IDF do its job.
While the US government tends to meddle in affairs that it really should stay out of, the good news for Israel is America faces massive deficits, a struggling economy, and a worn down military. As such, their is very little America can do to Israel at this point except be a mild irritant.
Israel should simply say "no" to any pressure from America or anyone else. Resisting American pressure will be fairly easy at this point. Resisting pressure from Russia will not be so easy. Russia supplies about 80% of Israel's oil. This gives the Russians tremendous leverage over Israel.
