Washington Post:A Truth Commission? — The Danger in Democrats' Rush to Investigate - The WAPO sudenly realizes that show trials on the Bush Administration might not be a good idea.

CNN:After stimulus, Obama looks to mortgage rescue - the gist of Obama's plan is to throw $150 billion of your money into the breach to 'modify' mortgage contracts and lower payments to 31-38% of the borrower's gross income. Aside from screwing over the investors who buy home loans on the secondary market so that the actual supply of loans will tighten even if you have good credit, $150 billion is a drop in the bucket to make a policy like this fair across the board. Will you have to swear a loyalty oath to Obama before you're eligible?

I would add that the classic Fannie/Freddie underwriting guideline before the CRA and the Democrats 'modified ' it for political purposes was 33 over 38...33% of your gross income for housing, 38% of your gross income as total debt including housing. As you can see, those ratios were trashed a long time ago...an dmost of the people who are going to be bailed out by this stuff shouldn't have gotten home loans to begin with.
