Don't say you weren't warned.
Ex-Black Panther turned Congressman Bobby Rush from Illinois' first Congressional District in Chicago has a idea. He claims he wants to repeat Chicago's success in dealing with gun crime in the rest of the United States by proposing a bill for the opening salvo of a federal gun ban.
HR 45, which Rush recently introduced, is a blatant violation of the Second Amendment.
What it would do is make it almost impossible to obtain hand guns...just like in Chicago, by far the most violent and crime ridden big city in America.
Illinois has one of the most restrictive set of gun laws in the country. And Chicago's gun laws are even more restrictive. Chicago's laws requires "that all firearms be registered with the local police department but won't allow handguns to be registered, which has the effect of outlawing them in the city's jurisdiction. That de facto ban has been in place since 1982.
How has that worked? Not very well, since criminals always seem disinclined to care about the laws and simply buy whatever they want on the black market.
Chicago has experienced a rise in murders while stats for other large cities like Los Angeles have been decreasing. In 2008, 510 murders were recorded, a rise of nearly 15% from the previous year.
And now with HR 45, Rush is planning to extend Chicago's 'success' to the rest of the country.
Here's what it does:
The measure calls for all handgun owners to submit to the federal government an application that shall include, among many other things: a photo; an address; a thumbprint; a completed, written firearm safety test; private mental health records; and a fee. And those are only some of the requirements to be licensed!
The bill would further require the attorney general to establish a database of every handgun sale, transfer, and owner's address in America. Moreover, the bill would make it illegal to own or possess a "qualifying firearm" -- defined as "any handgun; or any semiautomatic firearm that can accept any detachable ammunition feeding device…" [emphasis added] without one of the proposed licenses.
Additionally, the bill would make it illegal to transfer ownership of a "qualifying firearm" to anyone who is not a licensed gun dealer or collector (with very few exceptions), and would require "qualifying firearm" owners to report all transfers to the attorney general's database. It would also be illegal for a licensed gun owner to fail to record a gun loss or theft within 72 hours, or fail to report a change of address within 60 days. Further, if a minor obtains a firearm and injures someone with it, the owner of the firearm may face a multiple-year jail sentence.
If they get away with this, look for even more restrictions on your 2nd amendment right to bear arms...especially if President Barack Hussein Obama and his Democrat sidekicks get a few Supreme Court or other federal bench vacancies to fill.
Remember, tyrants love unarmed peasants.
And don't forget to write, call and e-mail your representatives about this.

Another insignificant delusional screed by the radical Reich wing. A million posts and not a single comment. I'll let you jeez all over this bloodbath of altar of rape you call blog.
ReplyDeleteAll kinds of Libertarians or Objectivists or Egotists (similar to an Egoist) kept telling me that they didn't need handguns for home defense and neither does me.
ReplyDeleteSo they were fine with the government bans on handguns. It was never an ongoing problem for them. They traded essential liberty for no security at all. Do they deserve either?
Some things are self evident and don't need comments, Anonymous.
ReplyDeleteDo you actually have any facts to dispute what I say here, or is it just idiot wind on your part?
As for my traffic, I'm quite happy with it thank you, and it's there for everyone to see.
Or, to put it another way, more people read what I think in a single day than will be aware of your existence throughout your entire life.

Hey, FF,
ReplyDeleteNot trying to be a jerk, but Chicago is by far NOT the most crime-ridden and violent city in the U.S. That award belongs to Newark, New Jersey.
In fact, a friend was recently in town there on business and was assinged a police detail because they are worried about the safety of visiting executives whenever they enter/exit the city.
Just thought you'd find that interesting.
To Ymarsakar : I obviously don't know who these friends of yours are, but, by definition, they are NOT 'Libertarians' or libertarians, upper or lower case L/l. By definition, they would oppose any such bill. The other words are just fake words invented & used by by the vain. Egoist, egotist, &c, are just inventions of the pseudoscience of psychology ; they mean a vain person & vanity. & do I really need to point out the vanity of someone terming themself an objectivist?
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call them friends. They are more like associates.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 11:12 AM to Ymarsakar : I thank you for the clarification. Best Regards.
