There's an interesting connection here.
Stevie Wonder received the Library of Congress Gershwin Award from President Obama today:
President Barack Obama says he won Michelle Obama over with their shared love of the music of Stevie Wonder. During Wednesday's White House presentation to Wonder of the Gershwin Prize — an honor bestowed by the Library of Congress — the president said, "I think it's fair to say that had I not been a Stevie Wonder fan, Michelle might not have dated me, we might not have married. The fact that we agreed on Stevie was part of the essence of our courtship."
Stevie Wonder's appeal for President Obama likely rests on more than just music. They have some history in common.
Back in 1995, the two shared another event - attendence at Louis Farrahkhan's Million Man March, an anti-Semitic orgy sponsored by Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam that took place right in Washington DC, just a short distance from where President Obama gave Wonder his award today.
I remember watching the unsanitized coverage on CSPAN, and seeing Stevie Wonder sitting on the stage, nodding at the bile coming off the stage..and he was by no means the only one. Jesse Jackson, Harry Belafonte, radical poet Maya Angelou, congressman John Conyers all were in attendence and addressed the crowd, as did Wonder.
Barack Hussein Obama was part of that crowd.
Funny how things come around.

ReplyDeleteno.
it's not.
I still recall how Jesse Jackson appeared live before the cameras claiming to have been present with MLK when MLK was assassinated. It was known as the bloody - shirt incident. This was donkey's years before videotape, even Beta - Max ; however, any of us alive at the time & seeing that coverage will never forget. The networks will NEVER replay that coverage. Does anyone else in computer - land recall this. ( You'd have to be pretty old ! ) signed, dragon/dinosaur
ReplyDeleteI've seen a video of it.As we all know now, (from Roy Wilkins and others, who actually were there Jesse was not there at all.
ReplyDeleteJesse and his soul brother Al Sharpton are two of the most despicable human beings on the planet as far as I'm concerned.
I don't understand the obsession of these people with Israel and Jews. Israel is a small country that only receives a tiny fraction of America's total foreign aid. Countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Egypt receive far more from America than Israel ever has.
ReplyDeleteThe United States actually went to war to protect Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. If it had the means, it would probably go to war to protect Egypt. Also, if America had the means, it would probably go to war to prop up Fatah.
What are the chances of the United States actually putting troops in harms way to help defend Israel? I would say pretty near zero.
Again I don't understand the obessive hatred for a country that has received very little in the way of material support from America. In contrast, Israel's enemies have had a vast amount of support from America over the years.
The earth's population is about 6 billion. World Jewry is, at most, probably around 5 million. This is less than 1% of the earth's population. It barely even registers. Why is any one obsessed with a group of people who are so nominal in their influence.
ReplyDeleteIn contrast, there are about 600 million Arabs and these Arabs control the most resource rich areas on earth. Why would they be jealous of concerned about a people who have so much less influence than they have?
Over the centuries Jews have faced enormous odds and have managed to survive. This is absolutely incredible!! Anyone with any deceny would root for the greatly outmanned and outgunned Jews over their genocidal enemies.
I attribute the survival of Israel and the Jewish people to divine Providence. It truly does seem that God has a special puropse for these people!!
This is why I like bombing large crowds of protestations, Rob. Do you know how many people, Hitler or Khomeini, we could have gotten before they gave birth to true evil later on?
ReplyDeleteWell, Ymarsakar, that shows that you, Hitler and Osama bin-Laden agree on something.
ReplyDeleteHitler's words "If we could have held 100,000 of these Hebrew corrupters of the people had been held under poison gas and eliminated, Germany would have prevailed in the Great War."
Ithink it's not for any of us to judge the future in advance attractive though it might seem...
