Yesterday, Roger Hedgecock and the Liberty Papers posted an Office of Intelligence and Analysis report (PDF file here) by the Obama DHS that identifies 'Right wing Conservatives' as the major threat to our country's security.
This is very different than other similar reports done by the FBI in the past. Those focused narrowly on specific groups like the Black Panthers,The Aryan Brotherhood or ELF.
This one essentially indicts anyone who is pro Second Amendment, pro-border control, anti-abortion..or most tellingly, not a fan of the current Administration:

This one essentially indicts anyone who is pro Second Amendment, pro-border control, anti-abortion..or most tellingly, not a fan of the current Administration:
Rightwing extremism in the United States can be broadly divided into those groups, movements, and adherents that are primarily hate-oriented (based on hatred of particular religious, racial or ethnic groups), and those that are mainly antigovernment, rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority, or rejecting government authority entirely. It may include groups and individuals that are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion or immigration.
Rightwing extremists are harnessing this historical election as a recruitment tool. Many rightwing extremists are antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms ownership and use.
Rightwing extremists are increasingly galvanized by these concerns and leverage them as drivers for recruitment. From the 2008 election timeframe to the present, rightwing extremists have capitalized on related racial and political prejudices in expanded propaganda campaigns, thereby reaching out to a wider audience of potential sympathizers.
And it particularly targets veterans:
((U) Disgruntled Military Veterans
U//FOUO) DHS/I&A assesses that rightwing extremists will attempt to recruit and radicalize returning veterans in order to exploit their skills and knowledge derived from military training and combat. These skills and knowledge have the potential to boost the capabilities of extremists—including lone wolves or small terrorist cells—to carry out violence.
What this is, in case you haven't noticed is the Leftist fantasy of the 'vast Right wing conspiracy' made real and part of official policy under government auspices.
Essentially, it's a foundation for an enemies list, likely to be enforced by Obama's own personal domestic security force...the one Congress just approved funding for. And it targets virtually every hot button issue that people might disagree with the Obama Administration on and tars them with the brush of 'extremists.'
I particularly note the demonization of people who took an oath to defend our Constitution while in uniform. If you look at totalitarian regimes, veterans have always been targeted, especially if they're thought to be armed.
It remains to be seen exactly how far this policy ends up going. It bears watching, to say the least.
imo, the message is the real threat here. not the organizations.
ReplyDeletei bet there is a chapter about this in one of saul alinsky's books/writings.

History would say this report isn't off base.
I see where it says that "rightwing extremists" such as Timothy McVeigh pose a danger. I think we can agree that McVeigh was dangerous and a rightwing extremist.
ReplyDeleteThe word "conservatives" appears nowhere in the report, especially as an identified threat, so obviously you either didn't read it carefully or someone else who read it lied to you and you believed them.
Since the biggest mass murderer in the United States was the rightwing nutcase McVeigh, how stupid would our DHS have to be not to pay attention to such a threat? Who was the last "liberal" mass murderer?
Hello Dan,Welcome to JoshuaPundit.
ReplyDeleteThe incidents you mentioned both happened over a decade ago. Any evidence since?
Tim McVeigh serves a very useful purpose for the Left..it's the one instance they can find of supposed 'rightwing ' terrorism...not that people on the right aren't capable of it ( you could have also mentioned the few instances of abortion clinic bombings years ago)but it is simply much rarer than it is on the Left or among Islamists.
For that matter, McVeigh's supposed 'Right wing' credentials are fairly suspect. He had no known ties to any organized group, and as a matter of fact, among other sources, the LA Weekly, hardly a conservative publication, had a major story some years ago ( which was sacrubbed from their site the last time I looked) about McVeigh's contacts with Iraqi intelligence agents among them Ramzy Yuseff, mastermind of the first WTC bombing during the Clinton years...which makes some sense when you consider the timing of the first Gulf War.
There is one difference between much of the Left and most conservatives when it comes to terrorism, however...conservatives don't make heroes out of them. Bill Ayers, Yasir Arafat, Hezbollah, Hamas, Bernadine Dohrn, Che Guevara, the Black Panthers, Castro and Stalin come to mind and there are lots of others I could mention.
You wouldn't find the same market on the Right for McVeigh tees as you would for Che tees on the Left.
Contrary to your comment, history doesn't bear you out, I'm afraid. And the idea of wasting resources investigating a non-threat when we have Hezbollah and Muslim cells here in America is ludicrous, IMO.
Hello Repack ,
Welcome to Joshuapundit.
I'm afraid you're simply wrong.Read the links and the quotes I excerpted.
The whole thrust of the report mentions 'rightwing extrememists' but equates them with people who want illegal migration stopped and the borders controlled, who want their second amendment rights upheld, who have certain views on abortion and most importantly whom disagree withthe current administration's policies.
In short, it's an attempt to demonize political opposition as a 'rightwing' threat and curb first amendment freedoms - something you, as a self-described liberal ought to be firmly against.
Of course, based on your comment, you probably aren't a liberal in the true sense of the word, but a Leftist. Fine by me, but let's call things by their right names, shall we?
I've already discussed McVeigh ( and, just FTR, the Islamists who blew up the WTC killed a lot more Americans than he did)and why the term 'rightwing' might be a bit misplaced.
As for 'liberal' mass murderers, I gave a pretty decent list above. I could also mention the DC sniper, as well as other Islamist killers and wanna-be killers many 'liberals' (or Leftists as I prefer to call them) continue to support and shill for.
The truth of the matter is that every totalitarian movement including the Nazis has been a product of the Left and it's ideology - or been defended by far too many of them .
Thanks to both of you for weighing in.
Regards,
Rob
I guess Obama was talking about me in this Homeland Security document. I suppose also that his new brown shirt military will be gunning for me when they are organized. Come and get me I'm ready. Yes I'm armed, legally, and can protect myself. I can also fight for America, the America that was ... before Obama.

it's alright for lefty nutcases to destroy downtown areas and wreck havoc at any G(insert number of choice here) meeting they can get to, but put a ron paul bumper sticker on your car in missouri and you're red meat.
I think we can agree that McVeigh was dangerous and a rightwing extremist.mr. rider reminds me of cement.
