The Minnesota State Supreme Court has
ruled in favor of Al Franken in the disputed Minnesota Senate election, and Norm Coleman
has conceded.
This gives the Democrats a fillibuster proof two thirds majority that eneables them to pass whatever they want.
In the end, it all came down to a few hundred disputed votes.
If you think what the Democrats in Congress have pulled so far was funny, just wait.
A filibuster proof majority but can they keep it? If the economy turns around, they should be able to hold on to it and probably even expand their majorities in both the House and the Senate. If the economy does not improve, hanging on to the filibuster proof majority will be problematic for them.
ReplyDeleteWill the Republicans grow a spine and challenge the Democrats on any thing of significance? Right now it is hard to be optimistic.
For the sake of America, I hope I'm wrong about the policies of Mr. Obama and I hope they do succeed in improving the economy. If what I think is likely to happen happens, his economic policies will fail miserably. If the Republicans refuse to grow a spine and stand up to the Democrats, this will present a great opportunity for a third party.
Unless the economy improves, the Democrats are unlikely to be able to hold their super majorities. After the Democrats are removed from power, unfortunately it will likely take years if not decades to clean up the mess left by Ibama and his team.
In fairness to Obama, Mr. Bush was an atrocious President. Much of the mess the country is currently in is no doubt due to him and his team. Sadly the policies of Mr. Obama, his team, and his allies have only added to the mess.
Assuming the counry can survive the Obama Administration or until the 2010 elections and we can get decent leadership in place, it will take many, many years to clean up the mess. The survival of the country until the 2010 elections is by no means a given. I pray God will have mercy on us.
Finally, I suspect the Democtats have become to arrogant. As such, they will likely go further than the voting public wants them to go. This amkes hanging on to the filibuster majority even more problematic. Many people are starting to wake up to the fact that they made a mistake. I just pray the country survives long enough for enough people to realize this and to get our leaders to change course or replace them.
