Yael at Boker Tov Bouldermade an interesting observation well worth reading in its entirety about the possible relationship between amnesty for illegal immigrants and passing Obamacare:
In February 2008, Politico's Leon Harris interviewed Obama about gun control. In the course of that conversation, Obama talked about "the camel's nose under the tent," a metaphor I had never heard before. So I looked it up.
'The camel's nose' is an old Arab expression I'm familiar with that basically corresponds to our 'if you give a mouse a cookie', 'give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile' or 'if you feed one stray cat a dozen will show up.' In other words, if you allow a small evil or imposition, larger ones will follow.
As Yael shares with us from wikipedia, there's an old Arab fable about an Arab allowing a camel to stick his nose inside the Arab's tent, gradually having to put up with the entire camel coming in, and being unable to move the camel outside.
While listening to talk radio in her car, she had this brainstorm:
A listener called in to the program to ask if any other country gave benefits - such as health care & insurance - to illegal immigrants. The host said, "absolutely not," and the truth is, I have no idea what the truth is. However, it did make me think.
Perhaps the Dims' plan to insure illegal immigrants is not only a step toward further government control (of yet another massive portion of the private sector)... perhaps it is also a step toward awarding citizenship to tens of millions of illegal residents.
After all, if the government insures them, the argument could then be made that, what the heck, they might as well be citizens since they [already] have the benefits of citizenship. While we might think of this as a "back door" approach, people who live in tents -and therefore have no doors- might think of it as the perfect "camel's nose."
As she mentions, given that ACORN is handling the census next year out of the White House and will doubtless be ready to register as many of these people as they can as Democrats, a successful move before the 2010 midterms for amnesty could ensure Leftist dominance for decades.
Pure speculation, but I think it fits together pretty well. And it could be why Obama is targeting government run health care first.
It's also why these measures need to be fought without any reservation whatsoever.
The speculation does make sense, however, it seems the leftists have not thought about who is going to pay for all of this? I think it is highly unlikely the Chinese and other holders of American debt are going to foot this bill.
ReplyDeleteAlso with a collapsing economy and no way to pay for all of these social programs, amnesty is pretty worthless. No one will want to live here!!
Even if the leftists do manage to dominate for decades, they may not have been thinking about what kind of country they will be ruling. The military is already crumbling and the United States currently possesses less military strength relative to its main adversaries than it has at any time since before WWII. As such, the only thing they might be ruling is a province of Russia, China, or some other country we have not thought of yet.
Also, the United States possesses vast reserves of coal, oil, and natural gas. There are many who no doubt would love to gain control of that. Without a military to adequately defend it, it would be only a matter of a very short time before China, Russia, or someone else will simply take it over.
George W. Bush was the worst president in American history. I think there is no doubt about that. No one else who served prior to him even comes close.
As such, it is understandable why people would want "change." Unfortunately the voters did not give much thought to what kind of change they would be getting. Of course some of who monitor these things closely did know but most people really did not. Unfortunately the Republicans did not help much by their choice of who they nominated for their Presidential candidate.
Upon further reflection of this it makes perfect sense. Health care reform probably really is part of an attempt to get amnesty for illegal aliens.
ReplyDeleteThis country faces HUGE problems. They are not insurmountable but they are enormous in scope. In fact, of all the major world powers of Russia, China, and the United States, the problems the United States faces are for more severe than what either of those countries face. As such, America's survival much less its continuance as a major world power is much more problematic than the countries mentioned above.
In this environment why does a sane government focus on such a minor problem like health care reform? Either this government is not sane or it has an ulterior motive. In the case of the US government, it is the Democrats right now, as the Republicans have no real power any where right now. Either the Democrats are pathologically insane or they have an ulterior motive. I can think of no other alternative explanation right now.
Unfortunately the American people still seem relatively apathetic. Given the enormonity of the issues this country faces and health care being one of the least severe, one would think a serious voting public would be working hard to redirect the focus of their elected officials.
Areas of specific interest they should be working on is getting the economy moving in the right direction again. This would help the government to generate the tax revenue needed to pay down the national debt and to make the necessary investments in the military and infrastructure that will be necessary for the United States to remain competitive with other nations in the coming years.
Also, with countries like Russia, China, and Venezuela growing in strength it is important that the United States be able to present a viable military option should it be necessary. This does NOT mean that war with these powers is inevitable. It simply means that we should be prepared should it become necessary. Right now our ability to meet such a challenge is problematic at best.
Once the other major issues are tackled, then we can focus on health care reform. To focus on health care reform right now in the face of other more serious issues is a bit like medical professionals treating comatose patient who has extremely long fingernails and beginning by clippling his finger nails!!
Treat the major issue first. In this case, why is the patient comatose and how can we revive him/her. Once this is treated, then cut their fingernails!!
We have either some real imbeciles running things in Washington right now or they are very, very evil. God help us all!!
Finally, the economy and the military are just two issues I mentioned. There are probably dozens of issues that should be placed ahead of health care reform right now.
