Obama's New Policy : All Israeli Nuclear Workers Now Refused US Visas‏

http://sassywire.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/no-jews_allowed.gif

"No Jews Allowed!"

NRG/Maariv (Hebrew link only, sorry) reported today that the Israeli government was stunned when every nuclear technician at Israel's Dimona reactor who had submitted visa requests to visit the United States for ongoing university education in Physics, Chemistry and Nuclear Engineering had their visa applications summarily rejected, specifically because of their association with the Dimona reactor.

This is a new policy decision of the Obama administration. Up until now, it was routine for Israeli nuclear scientists and technicians to receive such visas and to study at US universities.

Israeli security officials have confirmed that these technicians are being denied visas solely because of their employment at the Dimona reactor.

Not only are employees at Dimonas taboo, but reportedly the US has an unofficial embargo on selling anything to be used at the site.

Professor Zeev Alfasi, the head of Nuclear Engineering at Ben-Gurion University in the Negev stated that "the United States doesn't sell anything nuclear-related to the Dimona reactor, and that means absolutely nothing. Radiation detectors, for example have to be purchased now in France because the USA refuses to sell these to Israel."

Here's the odd bit. Obama and his minions might believe that these sneaky, underhanded Jews are all spies, but in real life, nuclear espionage here in America has only occurred from China or from Obama's friends in the Muslim world...especially Iran and Pakistan.

This may very well be a precursor to the denying of visas to Israeli academics, at least on a de facto basis.

hat tip and a commendation to long time Joshua's Army member Joyce C.

UPDATE: Ben Smith at Politico reports tha tthe White House has issued a 'denial' on this story. My response is here.

  1. I should be shocked, but with Obama this seems like another step in his plan. He hates Israel and always sides with her enemies. Obama must be stopped, he cannot serve a second term. Republicans need to get their act together, listen to the people, win back Congress AND the White House. Then they need to act like Conservatives. They need to act only under the guidelines of the Constitution.

States need to step up, regain their rights, and refuse to do anything the Federal government dictates unless it is clearly defined in the Constitution.

Israel cannot continue to be treated this way.

This is a bad decision on so many levels it is hard to know where to begin. The first thing that comes to mind is America needs Israeli expertise in this area. The equivelent would be Saudi Arabia denying entry of oil field workers in this area. They need the expertise these people bring to their fields. The Americans need the Expertise the Israelis bring to the nuclear power field. Denying these people entry into America or refusing to work with them undercuts American interests in major ways. Not having access to this expertise harms our interests in major ways.

In doing this I can only conclude that Obama either hates America, is blinded by his ideology, is very stupid or some combination of these. I don't think he is a stupid man so it is most likely a combination of hatred of America and ideology that is leading to his pattern of decision making.

When he was elected, it was hoped that by putting some distance between itself and traditional allies and striking a more concilitory tone with traditional adversaries that America would be able to improve its standing in the world. So far this has not worked in any shape or form.

To date, it seems to have only made things worse. Traditional allies have become alienated and traditional adversaries have sensed weakness and have used this as excuse to further undermine American interests.

The approach being used by Mr. Obama and his team might work IF America works to increase both the size and capabilities of its military. Unfortunately Mr. Obama and his team have been doing the exact opposite.

First of all it has to be understood that Russia and China are the most powerful military forces on earth right now, however, the United States working in concert with allies can pose formidable deterent to these countries. In order to operate without traditional allies the United States will need to increase its military capabilities. Unfortunately due to the struggling economy and the massive national debt I don't envision how the United States would be able to afford such a costly endeavor.

As such, America's best bet and at this point perhaps its only chance for survival will be to redeploy all its military forces to defensible positions along the borders and to increase the size and strength of the nuclear arsenal. Since nuclear weapons are less expensive than things like air craft carriers and fighter planes and they are more effective, this along with the redeployed forces will at least give America a fighting chance to defend itself.

while you have covered very many subjects well, there are a couple of comments i have regarding your posting, and not ff essay.
in the last paragraph of you post, you begin by assuming that america (no capitals intentional), as an entity, wants to survive.
while it may be true that a minority of myself and possibly three others agree with you, i must remind you that those elected officials that would be required to make the decisions you lay out, don't care if america survives or not. given the discussion in your preceding paragraphs, i don't see how you can justify the leadership action necessary to carry out your last paragraph.
there are those in congress, and in the media, that think hussein is doing a marvelous job. and right now their voices are the loudest. this refusal of visas is just another way for hussein to ingratiate himself with his muslim brothers.
    jmo
right now i'm sure ff is getting ready to post another column regarding hussein's polling numbers. but for a stick in the mud such as myself, it's too late. even if the 2010 elections prove a landslide for the repubs. they won't be able to override his vetos............and the ballots in 2012 have already been counted.
    hussein wins 64% to 62%.

  5. I ran the Hebrew version from NRG/Maariv - I don't read or speak Hebrew - through the online Google translator. It appears to confirm what you are saying is correct. You seem to be the English language source everyone refers to on this awful story - the major media hasn't mentioned it yet, if it ever will (I doubt it...).

So now we have a US Administration seeking to dislodge the duly elected government of a long-time ally by encouraging their enemies and threatening them if they choose to defend themselves. That administration then escalates that ally's dispute with a neighbor by demanding it stop building homes on what have long been undisputed lands. And now we're taking the grudge to the level of individual citizens of that democracy. We are trying to stop free people from coming to America to hone skills that will help them ensure that they operate a nuclear power reactor safely. And we also deny them the purchase of important safety equipment, too. Would we deny radiation detectors to the Russians or even North Koreans, if they needed them to maintain public safety?

This lunacy is all brought to you by the same people who prefer to turn a blind eye to the illegal entry of millions of desperate souls who continue to pour across our southern border (indeed, who they seek to make voters ASAP), encourage other friends to look to Russian armaments mfrs for weapons because the American nuclear umbrella is being withdrawn (think India), and honor our enemies in an effort to earn the affections of dictators.

I'm living in Berkeley in the 70's again - and it's the same casual antisemitism, the same cognitive dissonance and emotional fog, the same fact-free claims, the same 'ism plagued name-calling, and the same thuggery that plagued a college town then and runs a superpower now.

America's next apology tour should start in Jerusalem in early 2013, and pass through the capital of just about every ally. Maybe we'll even have a sing-along with them to try and forget a wasted 4 years ...

Could this be related to Israel being an undeclared nuclear power?

  9. The mysteries of Obama might be better understood with a good knowledge of Islam and its 1400-year history. Is he the Taqiyya Bell Dog? Find out by studying Islam's history free with the Historyscoper at http://go.to/islamhistory

  10. And over 70% of American Jews, including my relatives, voted for this idiot. Thanks.

Would it be too much to ask that next time you don't vote for any more pals of Rashid Khalidi?

He's trying to use this as a chip to get Israel to sign the NPT and get rid of their nukes. It's not a precursor to denying all Jews or academics out. Let's read things as adults.

  12. I'm sorry, Anonymous 9:56Am. I can't necessarily agree with you.

It's a very short jump from not allowing Israeli nuclear technicians in to study in the US to having a de facto boycott of all Israeli scientists and academics. Look at the UK for an example on how this can work.

Obama has already put in a de facto arms embargo on Israel that started as soon as he took office.
I don't think you have a basis to say how far this might go.

For that matter, why should Israel get rid of their nukes and sign the NPT, which essentially would mean that any Muslims working for the IAEA have full access to spy on their facilities? If you were Israel, would you want to trust your lives to the UN? or to any guarantees by Obama?

    Regards,
    Rob

Maybe the Rev. Wright did go into Obama's head concerning Muslims VS Jews.

  14. The Democratic Party, especially the progressive wing, has been supporting the Palestinians since Carter let the terrorist murderer in the US to speak at the UN.

Prior to her presidential run, Hillary was pro-Palestinian.

What I do not understand is why Jewish people vote Democrat.
