Here's an example of how this works at street level.
Lots of you know and love the product put out by White Castle Hamburgers, a culinery treat enjoyed by millions. But thanks to ObamaCare and the president's new tax policies, that treat might very well be a thing of the past.
The Columbus, Ohio based family owned chain says that their projections are that just a single provision in the bill will eat up about 55 percent of its yearly net income after 2014,when the provisions fully kick in.
That year, the bill levies a $3,000-per-employee penalty on companies whose workers pay more than 9.5 percent of their household income in premiums for company-provided insurance.
White Castle now provides insurance to all of its full-time workers and picks up between 70 to 89 percent of their premium costs, and they're going to be hit for those penalties. That will make it questionable whether the company can even afford to maintain its 421 restaurants - and forget about creating any new jobs or expanding. As of today, the company employs over 10,000 people nationwide, and more than 1,200 in its home state of Ohio.
Faced with this kind of piracy, they will simply go Galt and go out of business , radically raise their prices and cut back on growth or simply sell out.
And that's the effect on one firm from just one of President Obama's policies.
As I said back during the campaign, when Obama get's through with you, you'd better hope you have any spare change left.
the solution in the case of white castle is quite simple really.
ReplyDeletejust appoint a hamburger czar to oversee the transition and operation of the new company.
there.
problem solved.
in reality, the majority of americans don't see anything wrong with the assessment as described by ff. the rest will choose not to understand what it means and will mark their ballots as they are told.
i don't really see why ff comments on issues such as this.
when the unemployment rate hits 35%, hussein will still have an overall job approval rating of over 75%.
dumber than a sack of hair.
Ohio ( & Penn ) have the potential of undermining & destroying the Dems' US House majority. If the voters there grasp the consequences of Zero's economic intrigues, if they can ' connect the dots ', then the Dems will confront 2 elections ( ie, 2010 & 2012, ) which will startle them. No GOP pres candidature has triumphed sans Ohio. Awaken, ' O ', the Buckeye State ; & ' Penn ', the Keystone State ; we crave your assistance ! --dragon/dinosaur
ReplyDeleteD/D,
ReplyDeleteyou have some "if"s in very strategic places in your posting.
just say'n.
i have said all along that the dims pick up two senate seats and 10 house seats.
i see nothing to change my mind.
dumber than a sack of hair.
Really, Primate?
ReplyDeleteThis Monkey will be happy to cover all the action you can handle and take your money.I ain't the political guru of Joshuapundit because of my good looks.
My Democrats will lose 5-6 Senate seats, maybe more. And probably enough seats in the House to lose their majority.
Obama's been crapping from the top of the tree on those of us below for too long, and the primates are going to take it out on our party.
And that's the real banana,chum....p.
Weekend Monkey
From d/d to l/l : that's true ; I have to phrase it in the subjunctive, for Nov is 4 months away, & that might as well be 4 years away when you consider that many voters' memories are limited to about a week or fortnight ( hold election day on the Tuesday immediately succeeding 15 April, or, better yet, on the the Tuesday immediately preceding 15 April, when we are filling up those forms & cheques & waving bye-bye to all those $$ : that would concentrate many more minds on relevant election matters ) ! As it is, the Memento film I tripped across a few years ago wherein someone can't form new memories, owing to a serious injury & the resulting medical situation, might be a pretty accurate metaphor. They are hoping that people's remembrance of their initial pique against Zero's ( or Dr Strangelove's ) Rx for America will have faded by Nov. The other prob is that the full impact won't be felt till 2014 ( as noted by jp in the article, please v paragraph 4 ).
ReplyDeleteI have just recalled a couple of questions posed in the past by louielouie or BPoster &, with jp's indulgence, I should like to address them. I encountered both of the Qs whilst catching up on my reading at this vast & great site. Both of the Qs were already buried by many newer pieces, items, entries, & actualities, & I realised that any response at such a belated juncture would not see the light of day. xxx Q # 1 : ll or BP asked re "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it". It was authored by a now little-remembered Edwardian lady which specialised in biographies written for the gen public. It puzzled me & vexed me no end many years ago, when it was repeatedly attributed to our old friend Voltaire, but invariably accompanied by the tag ' probably apocryphal '. I meticulously read my Voltaire : where was it ? & why was there no French version ? Mystery compounded mystery. The Frenchies couldn't place it ( ie, source it, ) but thought it ' sounded ' like him. It wasn't till I broached the matter to a sympathetic colleague in the English dept that I received a definitive answer : it was a biographer of Voltaire remarking, en passant, that Voltaire had a ' I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it' attitude. It was misunderstood as a direct quotation ! ( I can't recall the biographer's name. Apologies. ) xxx Q #2 : ll or BP asked re ' If you desire peace, then prepare yourself for war. ' Beholding that took me back more than 4 decades in time ! It's a famous quotation from the late Latin author Vegetius : ' Igitur qui desiderat pacem, praeparet bellum ', from Epitoma Rei Militaris. I once was given some mimeographs of lengthy selections from this work which I translated for a class assignment ( including this quote ). I don't recall having ever read the book itself or even having encountered the work ever thereafter. Apologies for length of letter : if I had had more time, I should have made it shorter ! -- d/d
ReplyDeletewell, well, monkey boy sobered up long enough to make a post....
ReplyDeleteand in what drunk tank are you incarcerated today chimpy?
you underestimate, continually, the level of indoctrination currently achieved in the college level.
the success these elitists have achieved in elevating hussein to his current position will not be allowed to be threatened.
also, you fail to include, in your perpetually inebriated state, the number of dead, unregistered, and multiple registered voters, that will be casting their ballots.
you been opening your bananas from the wrong end again? eh?
what passes for the electorate in this country will have no trouble dragging us all down to the level of your dims.
as for your looks chimpy, i'm glad you only posted a comment here and didn't hack into ff site, as you are prone to do, and post that photograph of yourself. scares the hell outta me every time i see it.
......you didn't think i was gonna make a comment/reply to yours based solely on the premise of your comment, without including some form of personal attack. now didja monkey boy?
So...mock me because I have a problem with addiction?
ReplyDeleteLike I said, midget dick...any time you want to back up what's coming out of that hole under your nose, lemme know.
And remember, my track record is almost perfect.
How many of your cousins did you say intermarried again?
Always remember...I'm Weekend Monkey and you just wish you were.
To louielouie : a propos of the tragedy of tertiary-level ( ie, college & university ) indoctrination, I am totally & wholly in accord ; however, you would what ? ... hoist the white flag of surrender & ' go gentle into that good night ' ? I shout & yell, au contraire, ' do not go gentle into that good night ; rage, rage against the dying of the light ' ! ( with apologies to Dylan Thomas' poem ) --dd
