They weren't at all happy about it, but the House Lame Duck Democrats bowed to reality and passed the extension of the Bush-era tax cuts tonight.
The bill goes to the White House for President Barack Obama’s signature after the 277-148 vote.
"The fact that President Obama has moved toward recognizing that a pro-growth economic policy has direct ties to the level of taxation…is a positive sign," said Rep. David Dreier (R., Calif.), a member of the House GOP leadership. "I believe that moves him in the direction of being a better president."
"There is probably no one on this floor that likes this bill," said House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D., Md.). "Therefore, the judgment is: Is it better than doing nothing? This is a jobs bill in my view, which is why I'll vote for it."

Why are they unhappy? They won!! They got huge spending increases, they got unemployment benefits extended, and all the Republicans get out of this deal is a two year extension of Bush era tax rates. The Democrats are sore winners. There's few things, if any thing, worse than a sore winner.
ReplyDeleteNow if they didn't like the bill, then simply pass nothing right now. Wait until the new Congress seats. Then when they pass something more favorable to Republicans than the current bill the Senate either filibusters the bill or Mr. Obama vetos it.
The Democrats won yet they still complain. Sore winners are dispicable creatures. Sore losers I can understand but not sore winners.
the two statements made by rep. dreier in the second to last para. indicate he's not the brightest tool in the shed.

my reply would be, "no it isn't" and "no it doesn't".
note to mr. drier, communists don't make good presidents.
