Send In The Clowns: Clinton Takes Over Obama's Presser As The President Flees
This would be funny if it wasn't pathetic.
Mr. Bill had a private meeting with President Obama at the White House and afterwards the two of them attended a press conference. Obama spoke a sentence or two about what a productive meeting they had , Clinton made an initial statement about Obama's tax compromise with the Republicans. ..and then simply stayed at the podium to call on reporters and take questions.
Obama stood there in silence for a few minutes, and then said he had to go see Michelle, as he was keeping her "waiting."
And then Clinton dismissed him, saying, "I don't want to make her mad, please go."
Not only did Mr. Bill ramble on for a while about economics, he continued on to a whole slew of other topics, including pimping for the START treaty, AKA unilateral nuclear disarmament by the US. I'm sure the reporters loved it.
On the tax deal, Clinton said, "Both sides are going to have to eat some things they don't like. We don't want to slip back into a recession. (What does he think we're in now??!?) We've got to keep this thing going and accelerate its pace. I think this is the best available option."
He may think so,but I don't see him or Obama convincing the Lame Duck House Democrats. it's probably better anyway to simply wait for the new Congress to be seated, pass a proper bill with fewer concessions to Obama and then just make it retroactive for the 2010 tax year.
This is beyond pathetic. Here we have a sitting president of the United States ducking out and running for cover to attend holiday parties with Mooch-elle while Bill Clinton, who is apparently now our Assistant President substitutes for him.
Being president is more than speeches, golf, Airforce One and foreign trips...it's a job and it involves work, especially when the heat is on. What did we elect ?
If any of you have ever been to a rodeo, you'll notice that there are clowns in attendance. But their job isn't comedy. They're there to distract the bull and allow a rider to escape when the rider isn't up to the job and gets thrown on his butt.
That's what we saw today and that's what we're stuck with. Someone who isn't up to the job.
coming from oklahoma, i'm pretty much familiar with rodeos.
ReplyDeleteso i pretty much agree with ff assessment of the activities of the clowns.
however, i don't see what this has to do with the essay as i don't see any riders, present.
Mr. Clinton says we don't want to slip back into a recession and we have to keep this thing going. Memo to Mr. Clnton and Team Obama: we are in a depression right now. If the workers who have given up the job hunt and those who are underemployed or stuck at low paying part time jobs is factored in the unemployment rate approaches 25% and higher in some places. In addition, we have high inflation on top of all of this. The only place this is "going" is deeper into the ditch it is currently in!! Is Mr. Clinton a complete idiot or does he think we the people are idiots?
ReplyDeleteThe only real approach to fixing this is steep cuts in taxes, government regulation, and government spending.
At one time, I would have suspected that Mr. Clinton thinks we the people are idiots. After all the Clintons are such smart political operatives. At least this is what the media has told us repeatedly over and over again. Everyone knows the main stream media is always right. (Sarcasm off.)
The Clintons may not be as smart as I thought. If they are so smart, why have they devoted so much energy to helping team Obama? The assumption seems to be they have other political ambitions. At least Mrs. Clinton supposedly does. At least this is what we are told.
With regards to the supposed agreement on the taxes I don't see how the Republicans will get any thing better at this time. As is assumed by some, the Republicans can do something better when they control the House. This is incorrect. Mr. Obama will simply veto any thing but the current proposed bill. The "third way" mentioned above of steep cuts to government spending, steep cuts in government regualtion, and steep tax cuts will not be considered at this time.
With the extension of umemployment benefits along with the increased spending contained in the bill, Mr. Obama crushed the Republicans in the negotiations. All the Republicans got from the deal was a two year extension of the Bush era tax rates. This is virtually meaningless. When businesses plan they need to look out beyond a two year window. The Democrats won and the Democrats and the House and Senate are still complaining!! These Democrats are sore winners. There is very few things worse than a sore winner!!
Now regarding the nuclear disarment that the Mr. Clinton and team Obama are so enamored with, the Russians and the Chinese hold huge conventional edges over America in military capabilities and military readiness. Also, Russia's nuclear arsenal is larger and more advanced than the American arsenal is and the delivery systems Russia has at its disposal are superior to what America has. Nevertheless America's nuclear arsenal, as it currently is, just might be enough to adequately deter the Russians. Unfortunately I don't see how it can be if we disarm and they don'. Which they won't.
Now if we MUST part with a few nukes, why not transfer them to countries like Japan, Tawain, South Korea, and Georgia? Of course we should keep enough to adequately defend America. By transferring some of these weapons to the above mentioned countries they could provide a vital buffer between us and Russia and China and it would have the added benefit to us of allowing us to remove our forces from these areas.
The advantages to us would at least three fold. 1.)We would have allies who would be able to provide for their own defense without the need for American troops or other forces. 2.)We would save money. We can't afford these deployments any more. We're going to have to withdraw any way, in the near future. This allows us to withdraw in an orderly fashion where we will still be able to honor committments to allies. 3.)The troops and military equipment in these areas are now freed up to be used elsewhere, such as where they are really needed along our borders.
