9/11 Mastermind KSM's Trial To Be Held At Club Gitmo Using Military Tribunal After All!
I can barely suppress a giggle over this one...after all the fatuous hot air that was generated by President Obama and Attorney General Eric Holder about how the Bush-style military tribunals were evil and illegal and about how they were going to prosecute 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in a civilian show trial in New York City, guess what?
They've retreated - again. And Attorney General Eric Holder threw a juvenile hissy fit in rage at it all, claiming that he was left without any choice and has referred the cases to the Defense Department for trial.
Holder blamed Congress for blocking any detainees from being tried in the U.S., saying that the "unwise and unwarranted restrictions" undermine the U.S. in counter-intelligence and counter-terror efforts.
"Do I know better than them? Yes. I respect their ability to disagree but they should respect that this is an executive branch function, a unique executive branch function," Holder said in his press conference.
Even funnier, new White House spokesmouth Jay Carney, said emphatically that the decision remained with Holder.
"The president's primary concern here is that the perpetrators ... of that terrible attack on the American people be brought to justice as swiftly as possible and as fairly as possible," Carney said before Holder's remarks.
Ri-ight.That's why Holder and Obama halted the military tribunal on KSM that was already in process...to play politics for all these months.
Amateur hour. On steroids.
AG holier's comment makes no sense.
ReplyDeleteholier respects their "ability" to disagree???
how about their "position"?
how about their "right"?
oh my, did i say right(s), with this administration?
Who are the most powerful and influential nationas on earth? They are Russia and China by far, in that order. How do Russia and China handle things like this? They very swiftly and forcefully bring their enemies to justice. They do not mess around in matters like this and waffle back and forth the way the US has here.
ReplyDeleteA bit off topic but we also don't see the Russian or Chinese militaries wasting time and resources in operations like "responsibility to protect" like what the US and some Western European countres are doing in Afghanistan. The Russian and Chinese militaries are the most powerful militaries on earth. This may be part of the reason. They don't waste military resources. When they use their militaries they use them to either gain or hold territory and wealth, to support someone who will grant them access to resources or other things they need, or to punish an adversary.
I'm a firm believer, if one wants to be the best, they should study the best. This does NOT mean we will be able to do every thing exactly the way Russia and China do them nor would it necessarily be desireable to do so in our situation but there clearly is muched to be learned by studying them and trying to emulate them where and when possible.
Congress can't stop the Obama Administration from invading Libya yet they can stop KSM from being tried in NY. This Administration has never let Congress get in their way on any thing they wanted to do before nor has Congress tried to stop them. Why are they going to let Congress stop them now? Why did Congress suddenly decide this was important enough for them to intervene?
ReplyDeleteSurely if they can stop the trial of KSM in NY then they can stop the invasion of Libya. Hopefully they'll get to it!! Its a matter of national survival. Our fighting men and women are needed along our borders. They should not be wasted in Libya,
