One British naval officer is dead and another was critically wounded after an ABS (Able Bodied Seaman) who was acting as a sentry opened up with a 9MM handgun.
The incident occurred on the UK's flagship nuclear submarine HMS Astute while it was docked in Southhampton and local dignitaries, including the city's mayor and council chief executive were touring the sub.
According to one local source, civilians rushed the gunman and disarmed him.
The British Ministry of Defense and the local police are saying that this wasn't 'terrorism related', but then, that's originally what the military here said about Major Hassan after Fort Hood, if you remember. No word on the shooter's name, ethnicity or a motive for the killings.
More as this develops.
