Oklahoma Legislature Passes Illegal Alien Legislation

Legislation was passed in the Oklahoma senate that would create criminal penalties for illegal aliens who work in Oklahoma and those who smuggle them into the state. The bill also gives police more authority to question immigration status.

The bill passed by a 37-8 vote, and now must be reconciled with the the Oklahoma House version before it can go to Governor Mary Fallin for her signature.

The Oklahoma bill is one of a number of similar bills being considered in several states that are based on Arizona's SB 1070.

One difference in Oklahoma's proposed legislation is that police officers would be trained to ask about immigration status in a federal program.

The bill is also aimed at day laborers, making it a misdemeanor to work, apply for work or solicit work in a public place on penalty of a year in jail and/or a $500 fine. it also makes it illegal for prospective employers to stop a vehicle in a roadway and impede traffic while picking up day laborers and prohibits illegal aliens from entering vehicles stopped in a roadway.

Smuggling illegal aliens into Oklahoma will now be punishable as a felony offense by no less than a year in jail and/or a $1,000 fine, plus possible forfeiture of the vehicles used.

As an extra, the Senate bill also repeals previous legislation that allowed illegal aliens in the state to pay in-state tuition for college.

It will be interesting to see if Obama's Justice Department sticks its officious nose in here.

Mr. Obama's Justice Department WILL challenge this law. If Mr. Obama and his team lose in the courts, they WILL appeal to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court WILL declare the OK law null and void and WILL decide in favor of Mr. Obama and his Justice Department. In other words, OK and any other state can expect any court challenges to be absolutely futile. These things are as certain as the rising and setting of the sun. If I'm wrong about any of this, I'll come here and admit I was wrong.

When the Courts rule against OK and other states, what will they do? If I know the courts are not going to rule in their favor, then I think it is safe to assume that the higly compensated lawyers who are representing the states know this.

OK, AZ, and other states are not passing these laws for grins and giggles. They are doing this because they are desparate. The scourge of illegal immigration is costing the states massive amounts of money and is bankrupting them. They have no choice. Given that they can expect no remedies from the courts, might they simply choose to bypass the courts all together and simply opt to secede from the Union? Might they let the charade play out and then secede?

When these states secede, how will Mr. Obama respond? The last time states tried to secede a President from long, long ago sent in the military to prevent this from happening. Will Mr. Obama send in the military? If he does, will the military follow his orders? Will they stay on the sidlines so to speak or might they join with the states choosing to secede?

The answers to these questions are not known, at this time. What does seem clear is the states can expect no remedy from the courts.

Due to fiscal mismagement by the federal government and some of the other states plus the enormous cost burden being placed on the states by illegal immigration and the failure of the federal government to enforce immigration laws why should those states who didn't mismanage their funds be pulled down by those who did? How can we expect the states of AZ, OK, TX, and others to shoulder the costs of illegal immigration? Such things are unreasonable and impossible.

As such, while we may not be at that point right now, some of the states such as AZ, OK, TX, and others may have no choice but to secede from the union. I think it would be prudent on the part of a number of state governments to have well drawn up plans for secession.
