Mob of Thieves Swarms Las Vegas Convenience Store

Just one of those little slices of life..

There's a new trend in crime targeting convenience stores called a 'swarm', as shown above in this surveillance cam video hitting the City Stop in Las Vegas for over $600 in merchandise.

"It became a feeding frenzy," said City Stop owner Jon Athey. "They were in the store for three minutes and 30 seconds… It's a pretty scary thing."

Athey says the crowd darted in and snatched numerous items from the store. "Beer to jerky to candy bars to soda, whatever hit their fancy… potato chips," he said.

"Now, you're seeing droves swarming in the front doors - right here - as fast as they can come in," Athey said as he watched the surveillance video. "You can see them milling around by the beer doors. Now, you're going to see them start selecting products they're putting in their coat pockets. They're putting it down their pants."

Something like this calls for a degree of organization, and is a little diferent then just a bit of random shoplifting. And a few questions come to mind..I wonder how many of these people were born out of wedlock and came from one parent or even de facto no parent families? How many of them were educated in the public schools? How many are church goers?

Or to put it more simply, where did they get their moral education?

Worth thinking about.

please donate...it helps me write more gooder!

i was wondering while watching the video, no concern regarding the security cameras, even though it's shoplifting, in most communities this has been downgraded to a misdemeanor.
the police don't want to be bothered with this.
this makes me wonder if these people were in vegas for the weekend, and the slots just weren't that exciting on this particular day.
    what happens in vegas.............

  2. Hi Louie,
The thing is, a group this large had to be organized. That's the key. These people knew each other. They might be tourists but somehow they didn't quite have that look to them.

Also, if you read the story this crime was upgraded to burglary and grand larceny, not simple shoplifting. Here in California, conspiracy charges would also likely apply.

I saw this as societal commentary, myself.

    Regards,
    Rob

  3. Of course, you could also use this as a metaphor for how the Obama Administration is operating..

    LOL

    uh, sorry, got distracted.
i saw where it was being "investigated" as burglary/grand larceny. but i don't think the d/a will pursue that unless two or three of these perps will testify in court as to the identity of the organizer. some lawyer will make some slick argument that his client just happened to be in the store at this time and got caught up in the excitement of the moment. in the end, this incident will be brushed under the rug. that is of course unless the next target is owned by the brother of the d/a. then heads will roll.

  5. Off topic. Thought you might want to consider this post for inclusion in the next Watcher's Council. It's a good one, from a blog called The Crank Files about releasing the Bin Laden photos.

Ihave family living in Nevad wo often travel to Las Vegas. The robbery took place in the most crime ridden neigborhood of the Las Vegas welfare baby daddy zone.
The teenage gang hoodlums wiped out businesses in Detroit, St. Louis & South Los Angeles in the 1950s and their great-great grandchildren moved to Las Vegas by ACORN. The amoral kiddies in the video are the offspring of women who were 25 year old grannies & 50 year old gg-grans who themselves were the kids of ADC collectors in the 1950s.
Thank the New Deal, the War on Poverty, and Obozo's get angr/get in their face/bring a gun speeches.

"Something like this calls for a degree of organization...." I agree. This is a bit off topic but speaking of things that require a degree of organization I'm reminded of what is known affectionately in the media as the "Arab spring." At least it is affectionately known as this when it is the ruling powers in Tunisa, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, or any other nominal American "ally" who is affected. If it is Libya, Syria, Iran or an enemy of America who is affected, standard operating procedure is either to ignore or run to microphones and point out how America should "stay out of it."

Someone is clearly organizing and orchestrating this. If we had ingquiring minds in the media or government, they would be publiclly asking, at a minimum, the following questions: 1.)whose organizing, directing, and funding the "revolts", perhaps it is multiple sources who are handling different parts and 2.)what are their purposes, in other words what are they hoping to accomplish?

The fact that the governments of Egpyt and Tunisa would be overthrown is hardly a shocker. These are viewed as allies of "America" and, as such, represented "low hanging fruit." The same applies to Saudi Arabia and other so called "moderate" Arab states who are viewed as allied with America.

Syria, Iran, and Libya are NOT low hanging fruit. These nations have/had vast networks of allies and as enemies of America this would generally serve to make those governments much more stable. Why should they be threatened?
