Normally,I wouldn't waste my time or yours on Maureen Dowd's 'columns' in Pravda-on-the-Hudson , but this one is too good to miss...entitled 'Field Of Lost Dreams'. Here's the opener:
The president was in “Afternoon of a Faun” mode, a rural deity playing on his panpipes in the woods. Then, suddenly, he stood very still as he sensed electoral danger.
*chuckle* I love it when people like MoDo allude to cultural icons they know nothing about in an attempt to make themselves out to be superior beings. She's obviously never seen the ballet L'après-midi d'un faune (Afternoon of a faun) she's alluding to, where neither the music by Debussey or the Nijinsky choreographed dancing is anything like indecisive or fearful. In fact, it involves a satyr erotically chasing a bunch of nymphs around so he can have his way with them!
She goes on to despair over the president's lame answer to a loyal ObamaBot at one of those campaign appearances that are part of the Magical Misery Tour the taxpayers are paying for. Asked essentially why he didn't play more hardball with the Evil Republicans, the president's answer was something even MoDo called 'lame':
The president defended himself with a tinge of resignation: If the crazed bullies put a gun to your head, you must surrender.
“Now, I know that people would like to say ‘Well, just do something to get these guys under control,’ ” he told Emily, adding: “You don’t want to reward unreasonableness. Look, I get that. But sometimes you’ve got to make choices in order to do what’s best for the country at that particular moment.”
The answer must have seemed lame even to Obama because, on the spur of the moment, he felt backed into doing what many in his White House and party wish he had done long ago. He told Emily he would put forward “a very specific plan to boost the economy, to create jobs and to control our deficit.” (But not until September.)
Note the part I emphasized. MoDo just called the Republicans terrorists, but in the same column, believe it or not, goes after Rick Perry for what she terms 'creative new ground in volatility' by a 'retro, trigger-happy cowboy'.
The Texas governor called the president “the greatest threat to our country” and questioned his patriotism and sense of duty. The former Air Force pilot said the military and veterans would prefer a commander in chief who had been in uniform.
Perry said Ben Bernanke, the Federal Reserve chairman, would commit a “treasonous” act if he “prints more money” and threatened Lee Marvin justice. “We would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas,” he said.
Why do conservatives always have to brand people traitors? Why can’t they just say “You’re mistaken”?
Gee Modo...why do Lefties always have to demonize their political opponents with personal attacks like calling them terrorists? Answer me mine and I'll be happy to answer you yours.
To make it even more ludicrous, she's obviously brokenhearted that President Obama isn't the same kind of man Rick Perry is. As compared to Perry's 'retro, trigger-happy cowboy', she sees Obama as playing 'the retro henpecked husband'.
“In my house,” Obama noted, “if I said, ‘You know, Michelle, honey, we got to cut back, so we’re going to have you stop shopping completely. You can’t buy shoes; you can’t buy dresses; but I’m keeping my golf clubs.’ You know, that wouldn’t go over so well.”
“Everybody cannot get 100 percent of what they want. Now, for those of you who are married, there is an analogy here. I basically let Michelle have 90 percent of what she wants. But, at a certain point, I have to draw the line and say, ‘Give me my little 10 percent.’ "
Aww, so cute. Except a married couple doesn't have the option of using the power of government to rob others of the money they've earned, or to do it by just turning on the printing presses.
President Obama has been using both of these methods to pay for his agenda, they haven't worked, and to the likes of people like MoDo, anyone who protests is a terrorist.
The mindset of the Left is actually pretty understandable if you have an elementary knowledge of how a child's mind operates, at least until they learn better. 'You impede my immediate desires, therefor you're evil and I hate you.'
The problem with people like MoDo, our president and others like them is that they obviously never did learn better.
i have to criticize where criticism is due.
ReplyDeletein this essay ff uses the title/headline, "A Lefty's Heart Breaks So Easily".
yet in reading the essay, ff fails to prove that lefty's have a heart.
"Then, suddenly, he stood very still as he sensed electoral danger. "
ReplyDeleteWell, replace "electoral danger" by "pheromones" and it will almost fit ;-)
