Rogue US Soldier Reportedly Kills 16 Afghan Civilians in Kandahar

Sixteen Afghan civilians have reportedly been murdered by a lone US soldier who suffered what is being described as a 'mental breakdown'.

The soldier reportedly entered three Afghan family’s homes in Alkozai village, Kandahar at or around 3AM this morning and simply shot down whomever he found inside. An Afhan who claimed to be an eyewitness said that he then 'poured chemicals over their dead bodies and burned them.'

The U.S service member, identified as an Army staff sergeant is said to have surrendered to U.S. military authorities after the killings, and is currently in their custody.

Lt. Gen Adrian Bradshaw, deputy commander of NATO-led forces, said he was unable to "explain the motivation behind such callous acts", adding that "our thoughts and prayers are with those caught in this tragedy".

Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the rampage as "intentional murders" and "assassinations" and demanded that the killer be turned over to the Afghans to be tried under their laws.

You can just imagine what will ensue if a US soldier is examined, actually did suffer a nervous breakdown and is found mentally incompetent to stand trial.

There's the difference. We try and punish our murderers, no matter whom they've killed. The Afghans don't even consider the men who murdered 6 soldiers over a Q'uran burning to even be murderers.

There's a great deal that's revealed by just that simple fact.

your analogy is completely beside the point. at least 9 unarmed children were slaughtered in their sleep. some of their bodies burned, infants shot in the head. the soldiers were all adults and were members of an occupying force. Have you no sense of proportion or are you just a knee-jerk, rank apologist and propagandist who draws false moral equivalencies whenever they serve the misleading cause of American exceptionalism?

As horrible as this is, i sure hope Obama doesn't hand the murderer over to the Afghans. One never knows with him.

  3. I love it when lefties foam at the mouth on cue with carefully selective outrage.

First of all, it was one soldier, no plural, and one with possible brain injuries as well.Nice try.

Second, I think your comment proves American - or western rather - exceptionalism. Now, I realize you hate your country, but the fact that we're going to try this man under our laws instead of praising him as some kind of hero for killing infidels ought to mean something to most rational people.

BTW...it is curious that people of your persuasion always give Islamists a pass when it comes to the violence and terrorism they commit.I find it rather racist on your part that you refuse to hold the Afghan jihadis and their counterparts to the same standards you hold us.

If someone defaced a Christian religious symbol here in America, what would we do to Christians who rioted and murdered people at random who had nothing to do with it?
