Governor Sarah Palin takes down President Obama and his faux 'war against women' nonsense but good in this Facebook entry.
I love the part where she challenges him to a debate...this president would be far too petrified with fear to ever enter that arena, believe me. Remember what she did to Joe Biden? And that was back when she had a lot less media savvy and experience.
The far Left continues to believe American voters are not smart enough to grasp the diversionary tactics it employs to distract us from the issues our President just doesn’t want to talk about – issues that affect us all every day and must be addressed.
Exhibit A in these diversionary tactics is an absurd new attack ad President Obama has released taking my comments out of context. I’m not running for any office, but I’m more than happy to accept the dubious honor of being Barack Obama’s “enemy of the week” if that includes the opportunity to debate him on the issues Americans are actually concerned about. (Remember when I said you don’t need a title to make a difference?)
Just off the top of my head, a few of these concerning issues include: a debt crisis that has us hurtling towards a Greek-style collapse, entitlement programs going bankrupt, a credit downgrade for the first time in our history, a government takeover of the health care industry that makes care more expensive and puts a rationing panel of faceless bureaucrats between you and your doctor (aka a “death panel”), $4 and $5 gas at the pump exacerbated by an anti-drilling agenda that rejects good paying energy sector jobs and makes us more dependent on dangerous foreign regimes, a war in Afghanistan that seems unfocused and unending, a global presidential apology tour that’s made us look feeble and ridiculous, a housing market in the tank, the longest streak of high unemployment since World War II, private-sector job creators and industry strangled by burdensome regulations and an out-of-control Obama EPA, an attack on the Constitutional protection of religious liberty, an attack on private industry in right-to-work states, crony capitalism run amok in an administration in bed with their favored cronies to the detriment of genuine free market capitalism, green energy pay-to-play kickbacks to Obama campaign donors, and a Justice Department still stonewalling on a bungled operation that armed violent Mexican drug lords and led to the deaths of hundreds of innocent people.
I’m sure I missed a few things, but the list is just for starters. Along with millions of others, I’m willing and free to discuss these issues with the President anywhere, anytime; and I’m sure any of the four patriots currently running for the GOP nomination would also welcome the opportunity to talk about the problems everyday Americans face due to the abject failure of our current administration’s policies. The President will dismiss all of these problems by saying, “Well, uh, ‘change isn’t easy.’” But considering that candidate Obama promised to turn back the waters and heal the planet, the American people had at least a reasonable expectation that, at the bare minimum, he wouldn’t bankrupt our country.
This latest ad is quite odd, but also quite telling. It shows that our President sure seems fearful of discussing the economy, energy prices, and all the other problems people need addressed. And intended or not, now that his ad opens up the discussion of Barack Obama’s radical past associations and the radical philosophy that shaped his ideas about his promised “fundamental transformation” of our country, I welcome the media to join ordinary Americans in finally vetting Barack Obama. The media failed to do so in 2008 to the detriment of us all. Maybe this time around they can do their job.
They might start by noting the President’s heavily edited attack ad. Breitbart’s Ben Shapiro helps them out in this piece. Please read it all.

Heh!

ReplyDeletei never thought of myself as being far left.
Remember what she did to Joe Biden?
ReplyDeleteNot really. I just remember Palin mixing up most of her facts and barely meeting expectations, which were lower than dinosaur fossils after weeks of "you can see Russia from Alaska" and "I can't name any newspapers that I read".
But if you don't trust my recollection, you can always go read the transcript or the scorecard.
http://factcheck.org/2008/10/factchecking-biden-palin-debate/
The book Game Change goes into how ill-prepared she was when it came time to understanding basic foreign policy and economic questions (she didn't even know what the Federal Reserve did). Her debate handlers coached her to sidetrack the issue whenever she didn't know what to say.
And I'm sure her Facebook entry is interesting and all, but it's no more written by her than Obama's speeches are written by him. I seriously don't believe that you think she sat in a room all alone, wrote this out, and hit send. Things at this level just don't work that way. Putting her in a room with no advisors (or answers written on her hand) and you'll see how smart she really is. This is why you never see her in a press conference. It would be a disaster. I sometimes get the suspicion that her fear of having to actually answer questions is why she'll never run for president.
So, in short, I agree with you. I'd love to see Palin debate Obama. Harvard law graduate and agile public speaker versus sorta-governor with a bar-hopping attitude to college and a tendency to whine whenever she messes up a softball question? I'll bring the popcorn.
I know you won't post this (it being civil and all), but I'd still be interested to hear your thoughts maybe in another post of yours.
Actually Anonymous, this was pretty civil for you.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to break this into two comments.
It's nice you found a lefty at factcheck.org to cite. The consensus from everyone, even the media like the WAPO and ABC who were usually in the tank for Obama as well as almost all the polls was that she creamed Biden. In politics, perception frequently equals reality, which is why Barack Obama is President right now and still has an approval rating above 30%.
I thought she did quite well, although she made one serious error in not taking the statement Biden made about how the US had kicked Hezbollah out of Lebanon and ramming it right down his throat. I would have had tremendous fun with that one!
I doubt I'll convince you, which is fine but remember that 'Game Change' was written, just like Joe McGuininesses' crap for a purpose. They were written when the Democrats still figured she might run, and were designed to appear around that time.
A book written with the aid of 'insiders' like Steve Schmitt and Nicole Wallace who managed possibly the most inept campaign in living memory and needed a scapegoat can hardly be expected to be factual or objective...especially when the entire premise of the book deal, the advance, etc. was to create a Palin hit piece.
I have one advantage you haven't in forming my perspective of Governor Palin - I actually met her in Alaska before she went national and got to spend almost twenty minutes speaking with her because a meeting she was due at was delayed. So I know first hand that she's sharp, articulate, well informed in a great many areas and remarkably down to earth for a politician. That's why I was so glad to see her get the nod for VP.
I've also seen the way the Couric and Gibson interviews were edited to make her appear vapid and clueless. John Zeigler's documentary is worth watching. We also know at this point that both Couric and Gibson actually communicated with the Obama campaign to strategize what questions to ask Governor Palin an dhow to phrase them.
Of course, you might think I'm stupid, and that's certainly your prerogative.
Does she write all of her own stuff? Of course not. Is she able to articulate her ideas on her own, voice them effectively without being scripted and tell her writers what she wants said, and then tweak it so it's her own voice? Of course.
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as her intelligence goes, I personally think she's more than a match for the president. He doesn't do all that well in unscripted moments and there are quite a few examples (even when he does pressers, he has someone whispering through an earpiece)he makes a great many elementary errors ( not knowing how many states there are, mispronouncing 'corpsman', thinking people in Vienna speak 'Austrian' amidst a host of others) and if you think about it, he's never actually been in a real debate with a competent, sharp, articulate opponent.
There's also the matter of his education. He went to three colleges, Occidental, Columbia and Harvard and we have no idea how he did at any of them, since his transcripts are sealed and locked away. We know he graduated from Harvard, but a little research will show you that it's fairly difficult to flunk out of Harvard Law School once you're in ( and I've documented in these pages exactly what kind of outside influence was exerted to get him in), and while he managed to pass the bar, a lot of that is simple regurgitation, and he never actually practiced.
Even his book writing is somewhat suspect. We do know that he had tremendous problems writing 'Dreams From My Father', to the point where the original publisher, Simon & Schuster canceled the contract and Times Books, a Random House company was also considering doing so when the president suddenly finished it in one spurt.
Oddly enough, Obama's good friend Bill Ayers was on the scene at the time, and once blurted out that he had written 'Dreams From My Father', something he later walked back. But a look at Ayers' books, "Prairie Fire' and 'Fugitive Days' reveals some startling similarities in style, meter, and phraseology to 'Dreams from my Father', and several fairly knowledgeable observers have remarked on it.
For the sake of argument, I'll assume that Barack Obama, who never wrote anything even close in quality to his book wrote 'Dreams'. But it's interesting to speculate.
The point is, I think there are substantial reasons to question this president's brilliance and intellectual ability, and I bring it up since you're equally convinced Governor Palin is simply an airhead with a genius for self promotion.
I personally think she'd do quite well in a debate against Obama, and obviously Governor Palin feels the same, since she's offered to do so.So has talk show host Mark Levin, who's also offered a $50K donation to Obama's PAC for the chance to do so.
A final thing for you to think about, if you like. If Sarah Palin is such an idiot and a non-entity, why did the Obama campaign and their media surrogates go to so much time, trouble and expense to demonize her? Even now, when she's not even running for anything?
Regards,
Rob
