A Mega Mosque Opens Its Doors In Norman, Oklahoma

"The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers." - Turkey's Islamist Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan

The campus organ of Oklahoma University had this article of interest today (hat tip, the Baron and long time Joshua's Army member Louie Louie) :

The Islamic Society of Norman welcomed members of the Norman community to an open house in its new mosque Sunday.

The society invited guests into the 7,000 square foot Masjid An-Nur, which opened in March. The mosque is built atop the location of the society’s original site of worship, a remodeled house from the 1950s.

Islamic Society officers greeted guests at the door and showed them around the mosque, which features a library, a kitchen, washrooms and prayer halls. There are separate prayer halls for the men and women of the society, both of which face Mecca, the holiest city in Islam.

A 7,000 square foot mosque is quite large, and far bigger than needed to accommodate the Muslim community in Norman and the surrounding area. The renovation was also extensive and quite costly. As with most of these projects, the funding remains somewhat murky, for reasons that will be come evident below:

Guests of the open house gathered in the mosque’s prayer halls for a welcome by the society's officers and a speech on “building bridges” by Imam Imad Enchassi from the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City.

Enchassi used the metaphor of a bridge to describe how Muslims and Christians share many of the same religious traditions, such as prayer, fasting and pilgrimage.

He also spoke of how people of more than 70 ethnicities come together to worship in the mosque, including members from Pakistan, India and “all the way from the foreign country of Detroit, Mich.”

Note that last line about Detroit, the most heavily Muslim area in America being ' a foreign country.'

Imam Enchassi is an interesting figure. He's a self identified 'Palestinian' whom grew up in the Ein al-Hewah('Eye Of The Beauty') refugee camp in Lebanon, which means he likely has some interesting views about Jews if you scratch the surface. As a matter of fact, you hardly need to dig at all.

Enchassi's group, the Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City was a proud sponsor of Huwaida Arraf, a founder of the notorious International Solidarity Movement and an open supporter of Islamist terrorism against Israeli civilians.

He's been cautious, but his Facebook page gives the game away...he's an Islamist salivating at the idea of a renewed Caliphate:

"Those where one nation until WWI. They were divided into independent states after colonulizim. They are all under neo colonial goverment since. They want democracy and to be united again ad they were."

Aside from his obvious historical ignorance and challenged English, dare I mention the words 'Muslim Brotherhood'? Which almost certainly explains where the money to create a super-sized mosque came from.( screenshot here in case this traveled down the memory hole).

He's also has a number of Facebook friends affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood front group CAIR, including Ibrahim Hooper and Husayam Ayloush. Needless to say, he was very upset at the FBI's decision to suspend co-operation with CAIR after they were found to be unindicted co-conspirators and material supporters of terrorism in the Holy Land Foundation trial.

I think we have a pretty good idea of who Imam Enchassi is, whom he represents and what's going to be taught in the new mega mosque that just opened for business.

For the record, I have no problem with Muslims having a place to pray. I have a lot of problems with huge mosques erected as flag planting with murky overseas funding by the Muslim Brotherhood and people with Imam Enchassi's Islamist views and affiliations running them.

"For the record, I have no problem with Muslims having a place to pray." Perhaps we should. I think your post on the Egyptian sex/slave trade pretty much sums it up.

As to how we should handle this, perhasp we need to look to the Russians as an example. Russia has been the most successful country in the 21st century. One could leanr alot by studying how they handle things and how has Russia sought to handle its Islam problem? As I understand it, thy've sought to limit the construction of mosques. Given the fact that Islamists hate America with a far greater passion than they hate Russia, I would think doing something like this would take on even more urgency for us than it would for Russia.

Now for my usual disclaimer, I'm not suggesting we duplicate every thing the Russians do. Some of their policies are not desireable or even workable for us, however, a starting point to being successful is to study the best and try to learn from them. Our leadership and our citizens would do well to study the best. After all I'm assming we want to be the best. As such, a great place to start is to study the best!!

    Rob,

You're right my friend we have talked about this before. I think friends can have respectful disagreements about certain things.:-) With that said you could be correct and for the remainder of this thread it will be assumed you are.

With that said by any objective measure the US has declined in every conceivable area so far in the 21st century. In fact, in many areas the US decline has been quite steep. By contrast Russia has gained significant ground in every conceivable area in the 21st century. In fact, they've been more successful than any other nation state in the 21st century.

For the sake of argument, while their gains have been quite pronounced and America's decline has been quite pronounced, it is possible that they have not surpassed America in terms of power or influence yet. Since we are losing ground and they are gaining ground at a rapid pace, it would seem our policies are not working and theirs are. Since this is the case, it makes sense for our people and our leaders and our citizens to study closely what they are doing and to try and learn.

As I understand it, the Russian leadership has sought to limit mosque construction. Given the fact that Islamists hatred for America is many, many, many times greater toward us than it is toward Russia, it makes perfect sense for us to consider limiting the construction of mosques in our nation. In other words, here is an area where we might learn something by observing what the Russians are doing!!
