NPR's Cokie Roberts : Romney's Trip to Poland Motivated By White Racism
This is hardly surprising, given that it's Mary Martha Corrinne Morrison Clayburn Boggs 'Cokie' Roberts, but this is demented even for a long time left wing ideologue posing as a 'journalist'. Check this out:
LINDA WERTHEIMER, HOST: So today is Poland. Why is he stopping in Poland. What does he hope to accomplish with that?
COKIE ROBERTS: Well, I think part of it was a desire to portray President Obama as something of a wimp, and say he's abandoned Eastern Europe. But look, you remember well the Reagan Democrats. Those ethnic white voters who had been Democrats for many years; turned out for Ronald Reagan, and have been fairly predictable Republicans since then. Now it's a smaller percentage of the population -- of the voting population -- than it used to be, but white voters are still much more Republican than any other group in the electorate. They went for McCain in 2008 by 55%. And I think that getting those ethnic voters excited is really what Romney has in mind here. It's more for the folks at home -- the descendents of the people that he will be speaking to -- in Poland.
Yes, Mitt Romney's trip to Poland wasn't motivated by wanting to confer with the leaders and speak to the people of one of our most important allies in New Europe, one that's been especially screwed over by the Obama Administration's faux 're-set' with Russia.
It's all about appealing to white racism.
This sort of bigoted extreme far left nonsense is hardly anything new for Roberts, so no surprises there.
But you have to wonder if NPR and similar outlets actually have any journalistic standards or ethics left. Andnote that Wertheimer didn't even see fit to challenge this nonsense in the least.
I wouldn't even mind this inanity so much, if it wasn't being funded by the American taxpayer.
"I wouldn't mind this insanity so much, if it wasn't being funded by the American taxpayer." I agree. The Democrats have this advantage throughout the system with their message essentially being funded by the taxpayers. Examples of this are planned parenthood and I'm sure we could think of other examples. The Republicans have nothing that even comes close to this kind of organization. I think this largely explains the "go along to get along" philosphy that has dominated Republican thinking for at least the last 80 years or so.
ReplyDeleteNow with that said I'm not sure what Mr. Romney expected to accomplish with this international trip. He had much to lose and nothing to gain, as I said when I first heard he would be taking this trip. America's problems are intractable and not easy to solve, however, there are some starting points. I think I've laid them out here and elsewhere before.
1.)Redeploy all military and support personel that is currently in the Middle East and elsewhere around the world to positions along the US borders and off the coasts in positions that are consistent with US national security needs. 2.) Upgrade and expand the nuclear arsenal. Since we don't have the infrastructure or the technical skills to compete with other major powers in a conventional fight over a mid to long range period of time a robust nuclear deterent give us a fighting chance to neutralize the advantages that adversaries and conventional adversaries have. Unfortunately we've allowed the nuclear deterent to erode in recent years. This needs to change. 3.)Streamline regulations that are hutring manufacturing and construction companies. This will enable us manufacture more of what we need right here in America and it will make it more cost effective to fix our crumbling infrastructure. 4.)Develop all of our own oil and gas reserves and build more refineries. This means fully utilizing fracking technologies and coal to oil technologies. In time we might even become energy independent. At the very least, we would have some leverage over foreign oil suppliers. Right now we have none. Also, if some projections are correct, we could become the leading producer of oil and gas. If this happens, we might even be able to find alternative supplies for those who need Iranian oil supplies. This would be a tremendous help to us. 5.)Our immigration system is a mess. A moratorium on all immigration should be put in place for a minimum of ten years. This will give us breathing space to fix the immigration system. An indefinite moratorium should be placed on immigration from Islamic nations. It makes little sense to invite people into your house who wish to harm you. 6.)Its clear who the most likely terrorists are. As such, closely monitor the mosques. This will give us better utility for our national security and will help preserve liberty for our nation.
Do these 6 things and we get greater utility for our national security and economic interests than any thing we are currently doing. Of these six things only 3 and 4 have a significant foreign policy component but even that is indirect. By manufacturing more of what we need here we should have more leverage with our current suppliers. The same goes for oil production and refining as well.
Such an extened foreign trip is not the best use of the time or resources of a want to be POTUS. How come I know this but Mr. Romney's campaign manager does not. Make no mistake WE HAVE GOT TO GET MR. OBAMA OUT OF OFFICE!! Apparently I have better political instincts than Mr. Romney's campaign manager. That is a very disconcerting thought indeed.
