According to Drudge and Politico, the Commission on Presidential Debates has named the moderators and dates for this year's presidential debates. And frankly, it could have been worse.
The opening debate will be hosted by PBS's Jim Lehrer October 3 in Denver, Colorado.
CNN's Candy Crowley ( uggh) will moderate the second debate October 16 in Hempstead, New York. And the finisher will be hosted by CBS's Bob Schieffer on October 22 in Boca Raton, Florida.
Believe it or not, a vice-presidential debate between Paul Ryan and Joe Biden has been scheduled, something that surprised me. I was sure the White House was going to spare Slo-Joe that one.
It will take place on October 11 in Danville, Kentucky, with ABC's (ughh) Martha Raddatz moderating.
Schieffer and Lehrer are old school and can be relied on to do a reasonably good job. Raddatz and Crowley? Well, remember, it could have been Nina Totenberg, Anderson Cooper, George Stephanapoulos or Wolfie Blitzer.
Just once, I'd like to see a debate moderated by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity or Hugh Hewitt. They're no more partisan than the people named above, and based on their shows they'd be a lot fairer and true to the spirit of debate.
Biden has been scheduled, something that surprised me.
ReplyDeletethat's an odd statement for ff to make. but then again, it is early monday morning.
it goes like this.
who is going to write the questions?
how many days before the debate is the veep going to see/get the questions?
or put another way, who is going to see the questions first, the veep, or the media?
surprised, my butt.
