Breaking - Hillary Clinton Says 'I Take Responsibility For Benghazi'
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton fell on her sword and took responsibility for the Benghazi debacle, saying 'The buck stops with me':
"I take responsibility" for what happened on September 11, Clinton said in an interview with CNN's Elise Labott soon after arriving in Lima, Peru, for a visit. The interview, one of a series given to U.S. television networks Monday night, was the first she has given about the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi.
Clinton insisted President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are not involved in security decisions. "I want to avoid some kind of political gotcha," she added, noting that it is close to the election. The attack killed Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, and three other Americans at the consulate. The Obama administration has been heavily criticized after Vice President Joe Biden said during last week's vice presidential debate that the White House did not know of requests to enhance security at Benghazi, contradicting testimony by State Department employees that requests had been made and rejected.
Of course..."The decision about security aspects are made by security professionals."
In other words, it was some unnamed underling's fault to named later, as soon as we figure out who's expendable.
There are several possible reasons why she did this.
First, there was probably an appeal made to her on the basis of party loyalty to protect this president at all costs, especially three weeks before an election.
There may have been a substantial quid pro quo promised. Perhaps even an endorsement and some campaign cash if she runs in 2016. And anyone who's been following the cover up knows this wasn't Mrs. Clinton's fault, but the White House's. So very little mud will stick to her,and she gets kudos for being gutsy, and taking responsibility.Besides, it was th efault of an underling..just like Fast and Furious, no?
She may have decided that it's simply better, for reasons of her own, to get this off of the radar. She may have been more involved than it appears at first glance, and going public is theprice for keeping it hidden.
In any event,it'll be interesting to see if this takes the Benghazi scandal and coverup out of the headlines.I don't think it will.
once again, the actions of this so-called administration, says more about the country than it does about them.
ReplyDeletethere was a time, when accepting responsibility meant accepting consequences. not anymore. the death of an ambassador means nothing to these people or this country.
if i were an ambassador, i'd be thinking of another line of work.
walmart greeter?
LouieLouie makes a good point. This administration must have the goods on Hill and Bill for her to accept this.
