Israel Names New US Ambassador
Michael Oren is at the end of his tenure as ambassador and wants to be posted back in Israel, so the Israeli government has named a new ambassador to succeed him...and it's an exceptional choice.
American-born Ron Dermer served as Netanyahu's senior adviser for the past four years and has held previous diplomatic posts, including economic attaché at the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC.
The 42-year-old Dermer was born and raised in Miami Beach, Florida and has a B.A. in Finance and Management from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a Master's degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) from Oxford University. He also helped Natan Sharansky write the best-selling book The Case For Democracy: The Power of Freedom to Overcome Tyranny and Terror.
He's smart, energetic and knows the ropes and the players in DC. Israel will have an excellent advocate in Washington.
