Why Israel ain't gonna have peace with the Arabs anytime soon...

This little piece below is from the Arab newspaper the Gulf Times...it explains why in spite of all the hoohah over Israel's retreat from Gaza, and noise from certain more `moderate' regimes', the Arabs will NEVER normalize relations with Israel..unless the Jewish state commits national suicide! This was written after Tunisia attended a UN summit hosted by Israel and got some flack from their brother Arabs:

Tunisia will not normalise ties with Israel - PM

By Duraid Al Baik, Foreign Editor
Dubai: Tunisian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghannouchi said Tunisia would not establish diplomatic ties with Israel to reward it for its pullout from the Gaza Strip.
“Tunisia was not the only Arab country to host an international summit attended by Israel which is a UN member.”

In an interview with Gulf News, Mohammad Ghannouchi,Tunisian Prime Minister, who is heading a 14-member business delegation on his visit to the UAE, said Tunisia would stick to the Arab Peace Plan adopted by the Beirut Summit in March 2002.

The initiative floated by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Saudi Arabia's King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz (then the crown prince) and endorsed by Arab leaders in Beirut promised Israel recognition and establishment of normal ties with the Arab countries if the Jewish state fully withdrew from the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967 and allowed the return of all refugees to their homes in Palestine.

(In other words, the Israelis retreat to indefensible borders, give up land legally purchased from the Arabs like Gush Etzion, agree to divide Jerusalem again, and make refugees out of thousands of their countrymen..while letting in hordes of homicidal Arab `refugees' into what's left of Israel. In exchange for that, they get `recognition and normal relations', whatever that means..at least for as long as the country survives! Sounds fair, doesn't it?)

"We are happy to see Gaza free from occupation because Palestinians themselves were happy. We hope the move is just the start to liberate other parts of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1967.

"Tunisians have nothing against Israelis and will normalise our ties with them if our Palestinian brethren were happy and satisfied.

"Such normalisation will happen only after Israel agrees to the conditions set by the Arab leaders in Beirut for peace with Israel."

He said the invitation extended to the Israeli prime minister to attend the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) was just a formal invite to an international meet scheduled to be held in Tunis in November and has no political significance towards Israel.

Ghannouchi said similar invitations were sent by the Tunisian president to 175 leaders around the world to attend the summit.

"Tunisia was not the only Arab country to host an international summit attended by Israel which is a UN member. And this does not reflect the normalisation of ties with it," he said.
